Good deal. Hellas are known for going quick so you might be right with 6 months from what I read. Most people are getting a solid 18 or more months out the osrams. The osrams have the best lowbeam performance according to the tacoworld thread.

picked these up since the 100w harness didnt want to play nice on my 05 (fogs not working, stuck on high beams... same issue with LEDs in some of these trucks). Eventually i may just wire the whole damn headlight system into a beefy fuse block and rewire the stalk wiring to that box. but for now.. these will do

if i get a chance tomorrow i'll take er for a ride and get some output pics

Seems standard for the course on the filament bulbs. The bright factor is a combination of coming from crap hazed lenses/old bulbs into newness. The higher power bulbs are brighter than the factory bulb, but fade quickly and burn out earlier than the factory.

I studied all of this in depth by reading articles/reviews before going into LED for the Head Lamps and Fogs.

Incandescents work very well in the auxiliary light housings (stop, signal, etc.) and are cost effective with the LL Bulb. Hoping this HIR Reverse Bulb is an upgrade. Think it will from reviews. Did see one review where the 04 Sequoia user complained about them not being powerful enough attributing it to the small reflector.

Not wanting to go through all the hassles of some of these upgrades I've been considering these bulbs instead. I have 05 as well and my conclusion was wire upgrade would be tougher to do. Please post your results when you can. I have sylvania silverstars in for last 5 years or so, thinking I'm ready for an upgrade soon.

My old 2000 doesn't have any fancy whizbang tech to know if a light is out or not, but I could see a vehicle that did have the tech not liking the fact that I left the passenger factory headlight plug unplugged. The upgraded harness feeds off of the drivers side only. Could be rewired to separate the two. Also read where the brights on the newer vehicles and the fog light issue was the way the harness is wired. Someone had to modify the harness to get it to work.

Did you try the resistor I have in the first post? That was required for my 06. Has that headlight services harness you have ever been deployed successfully? Did you get it used from someone who couldn't make it work?

I noticed no fade after one year of use. In my research and use of leds in other application led fade exists and is compounded by driving them hard, like in a headlight situation. Until either of us have the science to back up the real world light fade over time on these, it's probably not worth discussing because we are just guessing at this point.

I've been reading about upgraded wiring via relay for those that have HID projectors. When the HID kicks on, there is a surge in current demand that could call for upgraded wiring but after that, the voltage dropped by the stock wiring/switch really shouldn't pose any problem nor change the brightness of the lights. On the other hand, there are a few stories of HIDs going dim when people use their electric windows or take a turn and use the power steering. That is strange and might be some other electrical gremlin. So overall seems like most will not notice any difference with HIDs but it could be an easy safety factor esp. if using a 55W ballast.

After reading this thread, it motivated me to change the reverse lights. I am hoping that it will improve the clarity of my reverse camera in low light conditions. I also changed out the map and dome lights to LED.

Yes. This thread is provocative indeed. Glad you are learning something. Which reverse bulb are you doing? The HIR?

    Glad yours are holding well.

I’ll report back on the HIR Reverse Bulb and be done with anymore rehash discussion of what I’ve read and seen reported here and elsewhere.

Was working fine on wumbos truck. It worked fine with the resistor. But I didn’t like having the resistor in the circuit.

The reason it acts up seems to be because of how the fog lights grab 12v from the high beam side of the headlight.

when you turn the highbeams on that 12v turns to ground. This is also how the fogs turn off with high beams on.

I may see what happens if I take the fog light side out of the equation and just feed pin 12 with ignition voltage. This should also allow the fogs to stay on when highs are on (not technically steet legal though)

    I'm here :hattip:

That looks pretty damn good. I have a set if Hella bulbs that have lasted over 2 years and swapped from my truck to my wifes car, although they are running the standard voltage.

@onesojourner very good point about phone cameras. My Samsung can make a dark room look like the lights are on, I'm still impressed how much better it can see at night than my eyes can.

Yeah, I've read a bit about it but its still pretty wild to look down a dark hallway and see nothing, but take a pic and see all. Maybe I'm just easily amused.

I am with you there. I hate having this junk in in there. They came in a 2 pack so the other will go in the glovebox as a spare. As an alternative I considered leaving an h4 in the right socket and mounting it in a reasonable location under the hood. It might look terrible though.

This is really good information. Is there a relay involved with that? I really want to get my fog lights on with the high beams. Deer don't stop jumping in front of me because my high beams are on.

The relay is energized when the fog switch is turned on. The fog switch gets its 12v from the highbeam side of the headlights, because since they’re ground switched, when the highs are off, it’s an incomplete circuit which I turns means there’s voltage till the break in the circuit. When the highs are turned on the fog 12v feed becomes a ground because of this.

Double cab may be different from the access and regular cabs though since the double cabs have a body control module. Unlike the reg and access cabs integration relay

So for access cabs and regular cabs, if you unpin pin #11 on the stalk harness and then run a new pin that gets ignition 12v. You should have fogs that function all the time if the switch is on for them. This MAY also fix the headlight weirdness with the harnesses

but all just ideas as of now. Might mess with it tonight

In the case of the double cab, does the Y - R wire need to be clipped after j32 and then given a + connection to the relay?

Hard to say. The fog is getting ground from the body ECU. The body ecu might shut it out even if you change up the wiring

    Is this the right question:

Does either one of these wires need + or - and if so witch?

If it is I can start playing around with my meter.

soo looks like yours is more of a mess to figure out. the high beam feeds the body control.

You could try de-pinning 13(A) on the BCM in addition to applying 12v to pin 10 on the fog relay with a diode so it doesn't backfeed the headlight circuit.

If the BCM doesn't get the signal the high beams are on maybe it won't cut the fogs?
