Good afternoon everyone. I have been reading a bit about the Pedal Commander product. I was wondering if anyone with a 2021 has installed one? What are your thoughts?

I have a hook up for a new one still in the box made for up to the 2020 Toy. According to the market pricing, this one may be foolish to pass up.

    Thanks!

I would reach out to PC to verify this but the 2020 version should be compatible with the 2021s.

According to PC, the PC27 is for Toy 2007 to present and includes the 2021 5.7L. Thanks.

    Great!

As far as issues go, some folks (through all 2007s to present) have reported surging issues where the RPMs blip or cycle high and low. A few have reported an issue that triggers limp mode. To remedy this you basically have to uninstall the PC and let the ECU reset by undoing the negative terminal of the truck's battery for 10-15 mins. Changing the PC's setting on the fly while actively driving seems to occasionally trigger the aforementioned issues. The company typically pushes an over the air patch to update the device's firmware in situations where reinstalling doesn't fix the issue(s).

If you don't have any luck with the PC you can look at Sprint Booster. The main differences: PC has Bluetooth connectivity and ECO node; Sprint Booster has Valet mode and Disable mode. In other ways they are functionally similar and work on the same principle.

You may want to try the tow/haul button. Works great for me and it’s free.

I have tried the Tow/Haul and I agree with you. I have heard from a few that you shouldn't be driving around with that engaged and not towing. Not sure why nor can I confirm that it will cause any issues. But, yes, it is fun to drive in that mode all of the time.

There is no place in the manual where it says you should not drive in tow/haul unless you are towing. That is fake news.

Agreed about the manual. I looked. But I believe the two are different and I could only imagine how they would work together!

I have one on my 2021. I usually drive city -3. The only thing I found myself doing at times was letting off throttle when transmission shifts. I was doing this to avoid hard shifts. Another characteristic was if I was going real slow and then accelerate sometimes it would really jump in first gear. I turned it off and all the shifting annoyances disappeared.

I find it valuable when towing a light trailer where the tow haul mode is too rough. Like a buddy at work said aftermarket works but not just good as OEM. That said its a lot of fun and in the end I do recommend.

The surging issue is remedied by a software update. They have great customer service.
Limp mode is usually a product of not following install instructions - you have to wait five minutes with the key to something like 35 feet away......

I have had mine for a month or so and it works great. Can’t drive without it now

Trying to confirm this. I was amazed how fun the Tundra felt when I tried it today. Pedal commander sounds great buy like mentioned if Tow/Haul is ok to drive, why not. It’s free.

Tow Haul is like Sport 3, very aggressive. Shifts to h high also if not towing

I have the non-bluetooth version. I ran it in my 2013 for a couple of years and then moved it to my 2020. No issues and no software update since it was new.

Tow haul and the PC operate differently. They are not the same thing.

I had one on my 21 and returned it. Worked great the first week then started surging. Started it to go home one evening and it went 6000 rpm and held there. Shut it off and unplugged it. Tried to update it but still surged. Seems there could be some bugs still for the 21’s. Will try again in a few months and see if it’s any better.

One changes shift points the other changes the throttle's response

I just installed a PC, tried both City and Sport modes and decided to leave it in Sport for the time being. Definitely seems to give the Tundra more "power" per my butt dyno, but time will tell.

PC users, what is your favorite setting? If you have it on some Mode and yet resorted to a + or - setting, why did you adjust it? TIA.

I settled in on Sport -4 I could go to a higher + but I didn't like how the transmission felt like it was slamming into gear whenever I would accelerate. It helped take some of the touchiness out of it.

I had one on my 21 for about a week. Returned it. It was surging while I drove and after a few hours of drive time it would throw a CEL. I did the reset and reinstall a few times and gave up. Wasnt that impressed with it when it was working either. It was too sensitive, anytime I hit a bump or adjusted my foot it would go up. I like the slop in the stock pedal, the PC made me appreciate it even more.

The thing I noticed with the PC that is nice, compared to tow haul, is that it adjusts throttle sensitivity in a way that makes the truck drive around town with a more effortless feel. Tow haul does that too, but is more sensitive and holds gears a bit more aggressively. Its hard to describe in words and I recommend people interested just try one. If they dont like it theyre easy to sell. Having been a avid user of tow haul and now having the PC, I like what the PC does enough to keep it.

I tried all but eco, settled on sport -3. But again, surging made it kinda pointless. City had too much lead in sensitivity.

That unfortunate, seems like a mixed bag, some people have little or no issues, others have surging.

Mines on city +4 and I do like that it takes a lot less effort from a start, havent noticed any surging until I bring it up to Sport + modes.

No, I wouldnt call it a surge. Not sure if you mean that the tach climbs without acceleration ( what I consider surge) or if its just very sensitive acceleration.

In the Sport + it is too sensitive and will chirp tires and buck a lot if you back off. In city mode it is fine and drives normal other than using less throttle to get around.
