    • My manual recommends 2 different kinds of grease for the drive shaft 2 molyb (@Professional Hand Model ) and one that is not.

    • Tranny fluid for the 5spd transmission aisin?

    • Use the same tranny fluid in the powersteering?

    • Rear dif with LSD

    • Transfer case and front dif?

    • Is it still possible to order the larger Toyota oil filters by the box?

For simplicity, I use MolyB in all zerks (instead of having two grease guns). MolyB is same grease(base) with MolyB powder added as the difference.

    Toyota WS

Lucas Dino with LS in rear. No substitute.

Mobil Synthetic 75w/90 in transfer and front or SuperTech.

YZZD-3 filters in box of 5 cost about $26.

Toyota WS is good for the transmission, DEX III is recommended for the steering.

Realistically the WS is probably fine for the steering too but if you use the Maxlife ATF it's compatible with both specs.

What about the aisin fluids? Are they priced any better?

I'm curious if I could adapt a hose onto something like this for an even fan spray of used engine oil in the frame.

    link.

I wonder if the screw on tip is just a standard pipe thread. If so, fittings could be "acquired" easily.

May have to attach the hose end onto some sort of toy car so it would roll above the floor of the frame.

Edit: I realize engine oil on the ground is bad, but is it really any worse than it all dripping off the side of my engine?

I can't recall where I saw the video(I think it was Project Farm), but used oil did really poor against rust in the test. It washed off really fast. I personally wouldn't waste time or money on it. Fluid Film or Wool Wax for me.

Not sure, but you can do a checky doo on it and report back. Best fluid prices I’ve seen are at Wallace Wuurrld except they don’t have the WS Toyota $$$htuff.

Bought some chyner made Filters (3 Pack) a few years back. Only used one and then switched back to OEM Toys.

Here is a side by side comparison. The OEM has more folds and thicker material thus weighs a little more.

The Toy is made by Denso in USA.

Bummer. Main reason I was considering oil was based on ease of access. Reapply at each oil change.

I'll have to see if I can find that video.

Project Hand Model did a study a few years back using what used to work in the old days before the internet. Seems like it still works!

Grease or oil? Big difference there on longevity. I thought he already did the grease rub so the oil seems unnecessary.

Grind down using dentist mojo on industrial scale. Greasules on bare metal shiny. Exterior only.

I've done very little for interior of frame. Was trying to find a use for some of my used oil for cost effectiveness.

Not sure if oil would "wash out" of the inside. Grease on outside.

Oh I see. I didn't realize you hadn't sprayed anything inside the frame. In that case, fire away! You are correct in that it shouldn't wash off. I'd blow all the dirt out first if you can.

Did anyone use the latest round of tax-payer checks to buy truck parts? I ordered around $440 worth of parts for our Rav4. New KYB struts, rear shocks, rotors, pads, and shims.

Stupid responsible things for me. With that we're within 3 years of being debt free, mortgage and student loans are the only things left.

I'd like to say we've always been this responsible but it took a few years (ok more than a few) of doing stupid shit to get here.

I intend to buy shocks for the 911 to complete my winter suspension overhaul.
Unfortunately, $600 is not even half the cost. :(

One day, I'll be this responsible...probably.
We're down to two notes from several, mortgage notwithstanding. I think we're also about 3 years from debt-free. (again, mortgage notwithstanding)

Just wait till the new tax plan and watch your paycheck divide in half with inflation. All the stuff you own will now become debt burdens till you die. Serfdom.

Also in the nearly debt free camp. I have one student loan that I haven’t paid off, but it’s in forbearance still (thanks to the beer bug), and I’ll pay off the rest as soon as it comes out.
