2020 Tundra CM 4WD - Installation Project - Rough Estimate Quotes?

My entire life I have wanted to have a truck that was lifted and had a little attitude with it. I recently got out of my 2008 Toyota Yaris which I had to be in due to financial reasons. Finally was able to buy the 2020 Tundra Platinum about 6 months ago and have been chipping away at upgrades until I felt like I was at a point I could install it and be happy with it.

I have sent approximately 12 companies a request for an installation and have had a wide range of responses.

Has anyone had similar items installed? Anyone perform installations and have a estimated figure?

Curious to see what the general consensus is for a fair installation price of the following:

I paid $400 for my toytec 3/1.5 lift install. Anybody can install a BAMUFFLER! I’d pass on the Craven? And since your paying to regear go with 5:29’s.. your probably gonna need it with 37’s? Tires mount and balance...? $100? Don’t waste your $$ with the K&N! LED stuff is easy DIY. Power step no clue not practical for me.

Thanks for the input. Much of the installation stuff on this list is quite easy; unfortunately, I have rods in my back so climbing under the truck really isn't feasible for me. I have read several differing opinions regarding the regear and after reviewing the charts on it I figured it would be best to go with the 4.88 but again not much experience in this. I have already purchased all of these parts. The fender flares and smaller stuff will be dependent upon the labor costs associated with them. If it is reasonable enough I will just let them install it all. If not, I will have to do just a little bit at a time until I get it done.

Damn nice upgrade from a Yaris!

 

I was quoted $1,400 to install the Nitros & LSD in my 2021. The rest of the stuff on your list, I've always done my own stuff so hard to say what it might cost to have done at shop rates. AMP boards take 2-3 hours, the 6" lift will require some pretty good time on the rack, I'd estimate a full day of shop rate for that install. The rest is all really simple. When you do your flares though, insist that your shop take the time to mark and place some door edge trim guard around the entire perimeter of the flare edge. Those things will trap dirt and cut your paint up in no time at all. I ran mine for four years using this trick (just took them off the other day to sell the truck) and there was NO paint damage. If you don't know what I'm talking about by paint damage, look for pictures of anyone who has run flares for a while and taken them back off.

 

After about 15 different quotes, I have agreed to work with "CJ" from LRM Customs in Fort Worth. Guy is absolutely straight-forward and 100% honest about what he can and cannot do. Does not push certain products and allowed me to pick what I wanted and provided input when requested. Absolutely pleasant experience so far; so much we decided to add quite a bit.

I will attach the quote so everyone can see the build-out plans.

Should get my truck back in about 4 weeks (due to delayed shipping of items).

 

Wow, is that $12K for parts and labor or just labor?

 

At that price point, I would remove most of the items and just super charge it, lift kit, and wheels/tires. But to each his own, good luck!

 

That’s a lot, but it’s all at once. I’ve probably spent that much on mods over the life of my truck. It sucks that you can’t do most of it yourself. Labor is what drives the price up. You’ll have a nice truck when it’s all done though.

 

That is a ton of labor charge with you supplying 90% of the parts
With the switchpro, wiring in all the lights will be super easy and you would think they would cut you a break on price on some of the labor for installing other light
Also, I thought SwitchPros was very strict on their pricing, looks like they are charging you over the MSRP of $549.
For the lift, they would have to remove the coilovers to install the spacer on top of it, not sure why they are hitting you up for another $200 to install coilovers instead of the spacer.

 

Yo where do you live?

A few of these scream mod day and I bet someone here would help you out for a 6 pack and a pizza. Then you can go to the shop for the more complicated items.

 

Lots of mods there. The KN air filter install probably a 10-15 minute job for capable shop, $100 seems a bit high.
Many on here just recommend replacing the filter element with KN element. The stock intake is CAI by design.

 

Since no one else is asking - What the heck happened where you went from driving a $2500 car to having a $50k truck with $15k in custom parts?? There is usually like 3-4 cars between those steps...

A quote for $12k to install seems about double what I would expect.

 

I see where you're going with it. This is going to be a fantastic build. To all the naysayers, yes it costs this much to build a truck. I'm into mine for $18k already just in parts but it has also taken me more than 150 hours in labor to build it (and I'm not done yet). None of these charges seem unreasonable at all and you already got competitive bids to prove it.

One suggestion @Semper04Fidelis, buy 30' of 3/8" door edge trim and have them put that down under your bushwhackers. Mount the flares up once, mark their location with a body shop marker, take them back off and apply door edge trim along the entire edge of the flare. Then remount the flares permanently and triple check to ensure nothing is actually touching your paint. If you don't take this step, dirt will collect on the rubberized seal and act like sandpaper. It will wear through your paint within a matter of weeks. I did this on my 2017 and drove it for four years with zero paint damage. Before I sold it I pulled the flares off, pulled the PPF off, and you'd have no idea they were ever on there.

There will also be the 30" light bar in the bumper and you can't see the tail light/3rd brake light changes (painted) in this picture.

When I separated from the USMC in 2006, I really didn't have a pot to piss in. I bought what I could afford at the time. I bought my first home in 2008 and decided I didn't want to owe anybody any money. Put every penny I had into paying my vehicle off and then transitioned into paying utilities, taking out $300 every 2 weeks for groceries and gas, and put everything else into my mortgage. In 2016, I paid my first home off at 28 years old. I continued to drive the Yaris as it was doing just fine almost 10 years later.

I continued saving my money and bought my Tundra and decided ive earned the option to build it how I want it.

 

Just my opinion, but you should skip the aftermarket headlights. The oem LEDs on your truck are arguably the best available headlights for our trucks. And they look great, too. Nothing comes close to the high beam output, and the low beams are only slightly less intense than the morimotos (which seem to have all kinds of QC issues, plus worse high beams).
