Hello trying to install tow mirror with blinkers on the 2nd gen. Anyone know what wire I tap into from the passenger side kick panel. Tried a pink wire that works but when I press the brakes it's also lights up. I'm very confused. Anybody know what color the right light suppose to be?

    Thanks.

Welcome from the wet side of WA.

Would help to know a bit more.
    What year.
    What cab.
    What trim level.

I've got EWDs for a couple of years of the Gen 2 (they made changes in 2010 to some circuits).

Most Gen 2's I thought had the blinker wiring already running to the mirror (just not used if you didn't have blinker wires). But I could be wrong.

    Update:
Don't think it matters...at least from 2007 through at least 2010 it's all the same EWD (attached).

On page 2, it calls out the junction connector MJ2 and pin 5 being the turn signal to the right hand mirror. The wire coming into it is blue (from the back side) and the wire going to the door is pink. Incidentally, at the MIRROR itself, the connector is M6 and pin 4.
    upload_2020-12-30_17-59-7.jpg
Page 4 shows connector MJ2 is a blue 17-pin connector, with #5 being top row on one end (and a larger gage wire). Page 3 shows M6 to be a white 18-pin connector, with #4 being top row middle.

Note on the connectors - the pins are based on looking at the "business end" of the connector, not the back side that the wires enter.

Also, the "Location and Route" drawing attached shows which connector is MJ2 - which in your pictures is the lower left blue connector that does not appear to have the right wires in it.

    SO...
Based on that, you should be looking for the circuit to the rear taillight.
Connector AJ2, Pin #6, Green wire leaving it heading through the firewall to eventually hit the main harness to the taillights.
    upload_2020-12-30_18-5-7.jpg

Checking the "Location" drawing, AJ2 is the connector you've tapped into, but you're on the wrong wire. Page 4 of the EWD shows Pin 6 is the bottom row, second wire in from the left edge (again, looking at the actual connector end, not the wires entering the connector).

    So, TL;DR
Looks like you want this wire:

Thanks man. I'll give it a try crack tomorrow. Darkness set In. I have a basic sr5 crew cab and the stock harness only had 3 wires for the mirrors. I managed to run the reverse light, but running lights and right blinker with no issues. The right blinker is what is Giving me issues.

I thought I had the right wire but guess not. I'll give that green wire a try.

    Thanks

Thanks man. It worked I just came out to do this since I had it all apart. Now it works. I will get a switch to power the heaters on the mirrors since my truck was not wired for them. But love the look

Here's the EWD for the mirror heaters from the 2010. Pre 2010 is similar, but a few color changes.
Taking a quick look, if you don't have wiring for them, that's going to take a bit more work. The factory ones are controlled by the A/C amplifier (Climate Control ECU basically), which is specific to different trims. The switch (which also controls the windshield de-icer if equipped) sends signal to the climate control computer, which then sends signal out to the mirror heater relay to turn on the mirror heaters.

    Best of luck!

Man you the man. I was thinking of running a 12v switch to power them off and on. But I guess it's not that easy. I can live without that feature. Love the reverse light, blinkers, and running lights on these tow mirrors...

Appreciate your time and knowledge. Thank you sir.

If you don't mind. I'd like to get you a couple of beers. Send me your venmo man. You saved me some headaches.

You probably could get your hands on a relay and mount it in the factory location and then use any sort of signal to run it if you really wanted the feature. It's a 15A circuit, which is part of the reason they use a relay (most of the switches don't have the wire size or guts to handle that much current).
Part of the reason that the factory setup runs through the climate control is that it will actually turn them off after a certain period of time or distance (presumably to keep from prematurely burning out the elements). That's all part of the CANBUS inter-connect between the climate control computer and the Skid Control/speed sensor ECU.

No need to send me a few beers - I appreciate the offer. Pay it forward to the next guy that needs some help that you know the answer to...that's why we're all here.

Look over this MUTH mirror install manual and see if it helps you find your turn signal lead...

    It is for 2007-2010.

    Man I got lucky.

I went from sport mirrors to towing Mirrors and they were plug and play and signals functioned. 2013 BTW

hopefully you figure it out with the info above
