Anyone have ideas or cheap potential fixes for this?

Are those paint chips or dirt?

Stop driving too close to the guy ahead of you on gravel roads.

    Is this on your vehicle?

If so, how long have they been there or were they all of a sudden.

A bug deflector will solve any hood paint chip issues going forward. Not too much you can do about the existing damage there other than repaint and put a 3M clear shield over it. They make DIY paint chip repair kits but I’ve never heard anything favorably about them.

One of the reasons I bought an 02 tundra over 03 was because road rash doesn’t show as badly on chrome bumpers.

Toyota should have used a black plastic and dark primer. :notsure:

looks like it would be easier to take it off or tape it off, sand it and completely repaint vs trying to use touch up paint.

Sand and repaint is best option. You’d spend the same amount on touch up pens.

Color matched Line-X bed liner spray is always an option too.

this would be great except for silver and white trucks...

You fall off your rocker PHM? Touch up pens are like $12-17. To sand and repaint IF he has a paint gun, the knowledge, and time would probably be 200-300 I'd bet

Have the guy wash it, dry it and send a better pic

Most of it looks like dirt, at least all the stuff below the hood.

He’d need 27 Pens for those touch ups.

I wouldn't go anywhere short of a respray if I were to fix those chips.

If not a respray. Try dr. Colorchip road rash kit. Will look much better but not perfect by any means. Tons of videos on YouTube

They should use a white plastic for those. :notsure:

Does anyone have bug deflectors they recommend? The ones I'm finding don't have great reviews.

A 2003 AC. Maybe I should be looking for just first gen bug guards?

I’ve had the AVS bug deflector II for the last 15 years. It’s worked well and I didn’t even have to use the mechanical fasteners, just the stick adhesive for the underside of the hood.

Where's the best place for touch up pens? Best price and/or best quality?
