Wow. A wrecked truck would make a good, cheap gun station in either setting.

Those guys probably grease the managers palms a little. Maybe.

I mean, look at it this way. You buy a wrecked truck for $1,000 max, and sell it to Mexico land, or africa land for 2-3, and they pay shipping.

Say you pay the scrap yard, and the dealership a small monthly fee to get first dibs on all trucks. Ensuring your business with them, and ensuring your export business.

Hell, don't even pay either. The management there will/should recognize that you are a GUARANTEED out the door, cash in hand, sale. Quick turnaround for them, and one less piece of inventory to keep up with.

A toy truck would make excellent off road, mobile turret/.50 mount.

i keep trying to buy our shops 98 tacoma plow truck.. the frames toast. the bodys beat, but it has working 4x4 with manual hubs and 27k miles..
i'd buy a frame, bedline the body and have one hell of a trail rig

Damn. That does sound epic. I wish I had the facilities to do huge jobs like frame repairs, or control arm replacements.

I think I wallered around down there on the ground for at least two hours yesterday. Always forgetting the socket, wrench, or tool. Crawl back out, get it crawl back in. Need something else, crawl back out, crawl back in.

My back is gonna be toast after this job.

Its not going anywhere. Not if I have my way about it.

Thank you again. :hattip:I do plan on taking you up on your offer if I can find someone that will sell me a new frame. I'm curious on how you went about it. I know that you have more ties, and connections than me. I spoke with Roman to get his two cents which was basically find one in a junkyard.

Now, I had an interesting, and possibly ludicrous idea about a new frame. Why not weld plugs in all holes in the boxed section of frame? Last hole you could do an oil/FF/Woodway spray internally, and close up the holes.

Thread tape on all the bolts that mount to the frame for complete, air tight frame.

That might just be plain dumb, but its an idea that came into my brain from the ether of liquor.

You could add that extra chrome trim below your 'mustache'. Remove the front plate & you'd end up with a chrome 'waterfall' on the front of the truck which i think could look more complete & more updated. That VW/AUDI grill look that extends 'through' the bumper look.

i think you'd end up with condensate inside your sealed box. Treat, clean & hwy miles I think could keep it healthier. And move to NV. Only rust there shows after the paint burns off.

I like this better - but I don't mind chrome. Seems more complete to me. Could always have your front plate printed on a vinyl cling & mount it to the front of the hood as is done in some of Europe. Gets rid of the plate while still displaying the plate & takes most of the road rash off the hood. Don't know why that never took off in this country.

That's why people breed - to have little helpers get you tools. Of course they tend to wander off with the tools, so it really doesn't work out as intended.

Yeah. The yellow is clashy. I forgot to color the side mirror chrome caps in Burgundy, too.

This just trades colors, doesn't take it anywhere.
Now if you blacked the grill cross bars, blacked the entire center bumper recessed area -AND- added red fill panels in the lower grill to bring the outside edge into line with the center bumper recess (narrowing the lower black mesh panel) - that might be something.

Haven't read this thread in a while, so I look at the last 2 pages and it's like watching kids finger paint in here. Please don't take that as a critique on the skill level, it's a comment on the rapid and creative spit-balling. It just flows from one idea to the next. I love it.

AH - NO! you hurt my eyes!
keep the bottom 'spoiler' in maroon.
The mesh between the bumper & lower spoiler, fill in the outside edges with maroon. so the mesh is no wider than the black above it. (narrow the mesh).
    ...please... :)

I color matched the bumper chrome bar on my truck. I would rather have the Limited bumper and grille, but I can't stop buying 911 parts. So I painted it when I replaced the fuel filler door.
I'd have done the other two, but they're significantly more difficult to remove from the grille than the low bar is to remove from the bumper skin. I have to text my friend that works at Toyota to see if those bars are available separate from the grille, or if I'm better off just buying a Limited grille...or removing the whole thing and spraying it.
