with shipping just about 900.. ALOT. but american made, lifetime warranty. and it fit. for 90% of the population i'd recommend the denso replacement. i just plan on keeping this sucker for a while.. and if i build the engine later in its life, this radiator will handle it.

From the readings I’ve done these All Aluminum Rads tend to end up leaking at welds over time. The one I was considering had a lifetime warranty iirc which is nice, but who wants to mess around waiting on a warranty return? The cost was $550 and needed a retro fitting.

You could buy 3-4 New Densos over the course of 20 years for the same price. Better to have a new clean rad at close intervals than one lifetime rad. The Denso cools right in the 183-185° range and the transmission temps are low too. Yes they are plastic and break, but if you swap them every 5-6 years you should be good.

The All Aluminum Rads look cool for sure. Its your money.

 

@empty_lord , @Professional Hand Model that’s an interest point about the aluminum radiators failing at the welds. I guess the constant heat cycles gets to them just like it does the plastic options. (edited for typo)

I’ve had good luck with their radiators on a 6.0 power stroke in the past and run some of their parts on my current Cummins. It’s quality stuff for sure. They sell a replacement for the 4.7 I may go with.

I've already tried to move the rack one way or the other. I really don't want to take it off. I don't see how I'm going to get the new sleeve/bolt on without that though.

 

I’ve never dealt with airbags and seat removal. I pulled battery. Yanked seats. Did some cleaning. Pulled door trim in prep for the Noico.

I was going to do the 80mil then the 315mil over it. I want to roll the window down to make sure my placement isn’t going to run into the window. I’m sure it won’t, but if I were to just attach battery so I could roll down the window, with seats removed..... I’m assuming I will just trigger CEL on no seat detection. Right?




Additionally, should I get some RTV and replace the plastic (vapor barrier?) that was there?

Did you throw away that vapor barrier? I would just put it back. I'm not even sure if Toyota sells them anymore.

I figured it's same concept as doing one in the bathroom walls, which I have plenty of that thick plastic left, Would just need to pick up some RTV. But, sounds like your vote is "replace". Had I been a wise man I would have peeled it back to reveal the opening.

Well, here i come again looking for advice...

Boots for the passengers side tie rods are worn through. I think its too many small holes to glue.

Small amount of mud is inside the boot, and the inner/outer joint is rusty. It still has what I would call a normal amount of play. Doesn't feel gritty, and doesn't feel grimey.

Feels like the tie rod ball joint is out of grease, and the rubber boot is dry rotted.

Revisit later on? Suggestions?

What's the general consensus? Lift doesn't matter? Tie rod is tie rod as far as lift is concerned?

Considering a small cosmetic change to the front end of my '05.

I'm not a huge fan of the color matched Limited grill but I'm also not too enamored with the 3rd chrome trim 'mustache' bar for the later model 1st Gen. This isn't Miami PI or a 70's porn flick.




Anyways, this is a quick edit of what I'm considering doing. Color matching the 3rd bar on the bumper like the Limited bumpers but leaving the grill as-is.




I actually like the early grill and bumpers or even the late model work truck setup (which is the late model hood/grill and early model bumper à la @empty_lord). If the front end actually needed replacement I'd even consider the early Sequoia hood/grill/bumper swap but that's even more work.

At least more work than sourcing a spare trim piece, some quick prep and color matched rattle can.
