Ahhhh. I don't sell my guns. :quickdraw:

In all seriousness, the only guns I've parted ways with have gone to a friend. I don't think I'd sell to a stranger. I'd rather just keep it.

Never happen, two reasons every gun is sentimental and liability

I had ammo issues with EVERY (5 of them) 9mm 1911s I've owned.
They were very picky on ammo, no reloads or remanufactured ammo.
They ran fine with most good quality factory ammo.
But I've since sold every one of them.
1911 platform just isn't for me..

Not sure I understand the statement regarding liability. Gun sales between individuals are both legal and extremely common. What has you concerned?

Even with it being legal you can still be held liable, much like a bartender serving alcohol. Just wont put myself in jeopardy.

To me, it's a tool. And I need a different tool, better suited to my needs. I also have next to no concern with liability. I'll follow the law and I have umbrella insurance coverage.

Wandered in an obscure smaller gun shop 15-20 mins away and they had this beauty on the wall (BNIB) for less than retail. Snatched it up. Now if anyone has 45 Colt ammo that they'd be willing to trade LMK (I've got alot of everything else).

I’ve sold two... the ratio is approx one sale for every 15 purchased. Only sold the ones I regretted purchasing. A Hungarian .32 auto that was just blah and a AR 15 HBAR. Sold one to a buddy and the other at a gun show.

I'll be honest, I offloaded one. It was a Remington 870. Solid gun but I can't stand the control set up. The action release and safety are in completely the wrong place for my hands. I hopped on the Mossberg bandwagon for good.

I'm confused with anyone keeping a gun they don't use. Why not sell it and get something you will use and enjoy shooting?

I absolutely love my 870, would never contemplate ever selling it. Are you a lefty?

I’ll play - I have several guns that I’ve never fired. I keep them because 1) I want them and 2) historically they provide a better return than money in the bank. For example I bought my SKS for $180 about 15 years ago - probably could sell for $600 in a heartbeat. Bought a K31 for $175 around the same time - Those are going for $700-800 from what I’ve seen lately. The list goes on...

Nope, righty but with small hands. Unlike the 870, with a Mossberg I never have to change my grip to work the safety or release the action. Tang safety means I can flip it on and off with my thumb and with the slide release behind trigger guard I can work it with my middle finger. With the 870 having the safety and action release at the front of the trigger guard, I have to actually take my right hand out of position.

    Just getting started
I'm still surprised at the title of this post...

I have a few firm rules in my life. One. Never sell a gun. I've bought a lot, don't intend to sell one, even if I never shoot it again, even if I don't like it, nope. Keeping it. Cause....never know

Just looked at my 870 again, and i can totally understand where you're coming from having the slide release in front of the trigger guard.

Pretty sure theres never been a case where the seller was held legally responsible for what an individual after the sale. Its one of those internet myths. Maybe in one of the few Communist states but I doubt it.

I just sold a Scar17 in the parking lot of a Waffle House and an AK in the parking lot of a Starbucks. lol

My friend was interviewed by the ATF after 2 of his firearms that he sold ended up being used in homicides in NY. As it turned out, the guy he sold them to was trafficking guns from SC to NY and ended up doing time for the trafficking. ATF was looking at my buddy for the trafficking except he knew who he sold those guns to.

They weren't looking at him, they were linking the guns to the guy they already had. Its how it works, your buddy is just another piece of the puzzle
Your story still has nothing to do with the statement that you are legally responsible after the sale. Legally your answer is, I sold them, thats the end of it, at least in free states
    Again, its an urban myth

A gun enthusiast is like any like any other enthusiast, including a truck enthusiast. You buy what you want, sell the things you don’t want or don’t use, and buy new things. What you want changes as you learn more (and shoot more). It’s no different than other hobby.

Fair enough, but in my case...

    1) I don't want it

    2) I don't see it appreciating that much, but even if it did, the gun I buy with the money I get from it should appreciate just as much, plus I will enjoy shooting it.

Legally, and for as much money as I can get.

This usually means removing accessories, and selling the gun with only what it came with from the factory. Example: If it came with 2 magazines, that's all I sell it with. I will add a bonus item to close the sale if needed, but I will normally sell any extra mags and accessories separately. Cash F2F deals are the best, a bill of sale with DL or Carry Permit information included is a good idea for both the buyer & seller - nothing official, just CYA.

You are surprised someone would sell a gun? Go to a gun show sometime. Everyone doesn't think the same way. It makes the world a more interesting place.

Once I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in my neck all of my long guns that produced a snappy or severe recoil were sold off, I replaced them with guns that were less likely to cause damage or aggravate my condition. I also used some of the proceeds to upgrade what was left in the safe.

    Everything is for sale.
