Need Some Help

Looks like I will be deciding between 2 sets of upgrades in January and I’m not sure which way to go. Getting a small bonus through work and my wife has said it’s mine to do as I please. So for both, assume around $2k.

First, I could go with a suspension upgrade. I have the Nightshade Limited with the painted 20” rims and I love them. I want to at least level, if not bring her up an inch all the way around. I’m struggling with the tires though. I only have about 2000 miles on these and while they aren’t aggressive looking in the slightest, spending a grand on new tires is tough to swallow. Would it look odd?

Second, I could do a lighting upgrade. I want to switch to the TRD Pro headlights with the black housings (I have the LEDS but with a chrome housing), add the NSV Lightbar, and upgrade the taillights.

Thoughts? How would you spend it?

 

Well first off you should spend it how you feel is best...

But since your seeking advice here goes. If you are only looking at a 1 inch lift I would go with a small (1/4) top plate spacer that provides a 3/4 inch lift and has zero affect on the ride quality. IMHO the Tundra suspension is one the best and most comfortable in the Toyota TRUCK class. It handily beats the 4Runner and Tacoma. So I personally would not change it. In the past I have used small spacers, 5100’s, and Eibach version of the 5100’s. While the Eibachs were excellent I would only do them again once the current suspension wears out. Not worth changing perfect good suspension unless you need the height for larger tires...now maybe for Kings or Fox: different story. Any of the above options are good ones .

I would change those tires out. I have changed tires off a brand new vehicle a few times. You can always sell the takeoffs fairly quickly these days. Tires will make a big difference and you will be able to suit them better to your need as the owner. As opposed to Toyota’s blanket answer tires.

More lighting is simply never a bad thing. I prefer auxiliary lighting or plug and play. I swapped my Baja Designs fog lights and they are much brighter than my low beams.

Either way good luck and have at it OP! Search away and don’t rush...I wasted a lot of money in the past by not doing my due diligence.

 

Tires will give you the biggest visual change, and you can sell the lightly used ones to recoup 3-600 bucks depending on what you can get for them. Then add that to your budget and get some Bilstein 6112's up front and level it out. If you have money to burn after that then work up a list of nickel and dime mods and do as many of those as you can afford. (Wireless charger, interior leds, all weather floor mats, AJT or TRD shifter, ect)

That's what I'd do.

 

I'd vote with tires. Not sure where you live OP but IMO, these tires aren't the greatest in the rain and suck in the snow. A decently aggressive tire can really change the appearance of a truck.
Go with what @1UP said to recoup some money towards suspension.

 

Since you already have LED headlights I would go with tires and a leveling kit.

 

I would buy NIO or QS (EV industry). You may very well quadruple your money over the next year. Installing parts will never have a return.

had no idea QS would open go up another 20% when I posted. EV are coming. AAPl getting into market. Invest the money. 1/2 apple, 1/2 TSLA for conservative plays. watch it grow....

If you have the nightshade your headlights are already tinted on back, how much more can you gain with trd? go suspension and hunt vibrations and rattles and rough ride.

 

Do yourself a favor. Go drive a TSS. Now that you have experienced your stock tires see what just the TSS tires do to ride quality. I found the TSS to be much harsher.

 

I have some other ideas, Upgrade stereo system. IF YOU TOW consider trans cooler. If not or tow less than 3Klb I wouldn't recommend cooler.
