Good evening. This issue started yesterday where the dash and radio would die and instantly restart when my traction control engaged, I was off roading. Today, I was driving down the street and the whole truck started turning off and restarting (instantly) about every second for 10 seconds while accelerating before stabilizing and not doing it anymore. When I finally got home and turned off the truck it was dead again until I removed and reinserted the key. Battery still shows full charge. I am by no means good with electrical so any help on where to start would be appreciated. Thank you!

First thing I would do is bring it to Advance Autoparts and have them test the battery with their computer. Its tells alot about the battery and charging system

I had this a while back. I took it to Toyota and they finally after 3 weeks diagnosed it as a fuel pump and replaced it. Good ever since.

It appears to be a battery issue in my opinion.. A fuel pump would have nothing to do with the radio... I've stalled out completely in drive with Toyota's batteries.. Low charged batteries tent to give weird electrical symptoms and issues..

Maybe a broken or faulty ABS sensor from off-roading??

I will have it tested but I recently swapped out the battery, about 5k miles ago.

I probably went through 3 batteries within 5k miles, the Toyota type....

Sounds like battery terminals or maybe just a loose ground...

The connection from battery to alternator sounds like its loose, rodent chewed, or corroded.

A loose battery terminal will do what you described. Check that first, it just happened to a family member and it was a loose battery terminal. You just swapped out the battery so that is the most likely cause.

Right on. Apparently the nut worked itself loose and disappeared. Thank you everyone for the assistance, I feel like a moron.

This is exactly why I follow these threads...so when issues pop up I have a quick starting point to go with. Great to see that it was a simple battery connection issue.
