Looking for wheels and tires...

I have recently become the owner of a 2003 Toyota Tundra T3 Special Edition. It is my first ever vehicle, and it’s time to replace my tires, and I would love to get new wheels as well. The current tire size is 265/75/R15 on 16” rims. I obviously bought this used, but I know it has a Camburg lift, and I believe it’s probably 2.5”, but that’s just a guess. What would my best bet be for wheels and tires? Specifically asking regarding size; I’m clearly new to this.

When you say a Camburg lift, do you mean upper control arms? Who makes the front coilovers? Snap some pics of the front suspension too and we can try to help.

Anyways, the part you see with Camburg written on it is your upper control arm. Those are not cheap so the previous owner made a good pick there. I can't tell who makes your coilovers.
@Darkness do you recognize those? Also, are his UCA's greasable? I was going to suggest he grease them but didn't see a zerk fitting.

Ah, I see, I just researched those, you’re not kidding. I definitely got this truck for beyond a good deal.

 

Is it Throwback Thursday? I haven't seen those coilovers since 2009. Those are the older Toytec units. The good news is they can last a long time, the part mostly likely to wear is the lower bushing. The bad news is they are not rebuidable, but I think you can replace the shock assembly. Toytec used to put those together with a Bilstein shock, I'm almost positive the threaded assembly can be moved from the old shock to a new one.

The upper arms should have zerk fittings for the bushings below the pivots. Not visible in the photo but most likely they are there.

If you want to replace those wheels, you'll need to know that what you have today are Ivan Stewart editions, they are sought after and worth a bit of coin. If they're in good condition you could probably sell them for almost the cost of whatever new rims you like, if you choose to sell.

As for wheels and tires, if you stay with a 16" wheel look for one with 8" width and 4" backspacing. That will fit well and allow you to run either 265/75/16 (your current tire) or 255/80/16 (skinny 33") or 285/75/16 (11.25" wide 33"). If you want 17" wheels the same applies but take 5 off the tire height ratio (285/75 becomes 285/70)

9" wide wheels also work but could cause a bit more rubbing, I would not go wider. 3.5" or 4.5" backspace also works but can run on frame or body a bit more.

Got it. The majority of the wheels I’ve seen that I’m interested in are 17”, so I might go down that path. Thank y’all for the help!

EDIT: Maybe not. I’ll try to find some good 16” wheels, since I really don’t need great performance and I’d rather not risk the damage to my wheels.
