I recently parked my truck because it's knocking. I think it's the timing chain and I have to decide what to do with it. New engines are about four grand and I am wondering why the 5.7L after 2008 (ie 09-14) are not compatible with this one?

I beg to differ... 5.7l Is the same engine till 2020, are you sure you have the 5.7l? that will only makes sense if you have the 4.7l which was replaced by the 4.6l. If you're thinking of the flexfuel engine, those are actually different 5.7l 3urfbe engine code...

Thanks, I’m sure it’s 5.7L so the difference must be the flex-fuel like you said. The places selling engines online we’re saying it’s incompatible.

OK, so you don't have a flex fuel, because that wasn't available until like 12??, I think... so they're definitely full of shit in my opinion, so you may as well look elsewhere.. or talk to someone else...

You can probably throw in a 09+ Sequoia, Land Cruiser and Lexus LX570 Which all share the same engine... You will probably have to swap over the wiring to these engines, but they're all the same... Do some homework for the years and it will help you in your search.. will also help you on your search for a good engine at some other site, or location... good luck.

I may be showing my ignorance here, but why not just replace the timing chain?

    Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!

I think that diagnosis of the knock is warranted...
