Are these cv axles worth the extra cost?

Found these cv axels for $179 and wondering if anyone has had experience with them. Cvj is not an option for me right now.

They have the regular hd ones for $100 each too just wanted to see if they are worth it?

 

I don't have any experience with them, but since money is tight right now, you could get the regular napa ones and if/when they go out just get them warrantied for spares and get CVJ at that point.

 

Word, I thought about that for sure but looking deeper into these cv's they provide 47° of articulation and the same Porsche boot many others have upgraded to on the inner joint. It's interesting to see another option than cvj or oem with upgraded boots. They also carry lifetime warranty so I thought that was a plus. I'm seriously thinking about giving them a shot as I've read many good things about the hd napas these have got to be an upgrade.

 

Lifetime warranty is awesome. I bought my replacement CV axles at Advanced Auto with a lifetime warranty. They lasted about 5 years before the boots started to dry and tear. Replaced for free. Those Napa ones have hopefully better quality boots.

 

I use the NAPA HDs on my 2004 w the lifetime warranty. Going on 10+ years with one warranty trade out on the drivers side and my truck is offroad a lot. Having more articulation is intriguing to me though

 

Right, I ordered the hd's but will probably try out the high articulation ones when I get back stateside. Overlanding in mexico is not the best place to test out new cv's. I'd like to read some positive reviews first.

They only had them in 2 different locations and had to charge freight fo each one. Total otd was $456 so still cheaper than cvj remans (the best option they have). Someone buy them and give feed back pls lol

 

I'll be the guinea pig next year. Both of my axles have torn boots.

 

Difference between these and actual Toyota’s besides the price?

 

I'm an oem guy but with all the good reviews on the napa hd axles I'm comfortable using them. The high articulation units intrigue me though, the obvious is for lifted trucks going offroad more often and looking for optimal performance they would apply more than oem units.

OEM is robust and excellent quality but at 3" lift on the front, extra weight, and wheeling for long periods of time I'd think that puts a strain on oem units. The main difference is oem has about 27° of articulation, the napa fancy ones have 47° of articulation. That's double, if they hold up that's a huge win.

 

Thinking the Napa HDs will suit me just fine. Inner boots are torn, and OEM is just not reasonably priced right now.

 

Those high articulation NAPA CV's look a lot like the Extended Travel CV's by Import Direct available at O'Riley's. I wonder if they are the same? Looks like they both use the slip yoke type design. I think I am going to give them a shot when I rebuild my front end.

 

Here's the Import Direct version. Almost the same price as the Napa version. They look alike!

 

Anyone running the regular Import Direct on their trucks from Oreilly?

 

If memory serves me properly, then I believe the 4wheel place put those to8250et on my truck. I took a pic of the numbers about 2 years ago and deleted, but that part number seems familiar.

Made in China I believe. Woulda put Toy OEM on, but not enough time to get the parts in with the front end rebuild.

 

I was before I rebooted and switched back to oem, they did fine for the 7-8 months they were on there. Lifetime warranty

 

I realize everyone recommends the OEM, but $400+ each can the $100 for the Napas...I realize you get what you pay for but the $600 difference in price for both sides....

 

At seven inch lift my stock cv s have givin no indication of problems...knock on wood.

 

I rebooted my oem ones with CVJ boots. What about going to your local junkyard and grabbing some OEMs and rebuilding?

 

A buddy with a 4runner runs these “special” axles. So far they’re holding up.. it seems to indeed help with lifted trucks

 

I just got a reman passenger side for my 04 from the dealer for I believe $105 or $115 with a $75 core charge.

I have a 12" Bulletproof lift with 40's on my 19 Tundra and I'm chasing a grinding noise that I can't figure out what it is, I'm headed to go get these import direct axles now. I'll update with how they do.

 

Sad to say that the only real parts I’ve run from Oreilly “brand” on my vehicles have been brake parts. BrakeBest pads and rotors, mostly because of the lifetime warranty. Other parts have been either OEM from dealer or Amazon, name brand parts from Amazon or RockAuto or name brand from Oreilly.

 

Just got a text from NAPA. 20% off going on now. Online only.

 

Was curious if that thicker shaft on those cvs would rub on fox 2.5 reservoirs

 

Any news on these? Seems like the have the extended ones, regular, and extreme environment.... Not sure which to choose for my 2010 with 5100s providing a 2" lift

I bought them work fine on road but I’ve snapped two of them already off-road don’t think they are worth the extra cost go with Toyota brand much better or if you want to drop some cash like I’m thinking about go with these

 

I bought the NAPA Cv axle last September when I screwed up my OEM doing a coil over swap.

I noticed the boot started cracking after 6 months and at 9 months it ripped and sprayed greases all over the underside of my truck.

NAPA’s warranty only lets you swap them at the store you got them from too so keep that in mind. I learned that the hard way
