My 08 has hiccups! All of a sudden it hesitates when I start from a stop or climb a grade

This problem began last week , at first I was not sure of it but within a day it became pronounced and almost scary especialy when the engine is cool and I need to accelerate on to the road . I have been driving this Taco for about 75K mi. and reularly keep up with recommended oil, filter, coolant, maintenance. This is my second tacoma and I really like it. Any Ideas? Merry Christmas,Happy Holidays!

I guess something with fuel delivery. Can you swing by an Auto Zone to borrow their code reader? It’s probably throwing a code and, once you share that, you’ll probably get more specific advice.

Have you ever changed spark plugs? Assuming your Tacoma has the 4.0L V6, the plugs should be changed every 30K miles. How’s that for friendly Tacoma advise on a Tundra forum?

PS. Tacomaworld.com is likely to be a better resource for Tacoma stuff than big-brother Tundras.com

At that age, there are a few things that can go wrong. First of all, even though you don't have a CEL, I would throw a scan tool on the truck to see if anything comes back. I know on my 4Runner that was about the same age, I started feeling some hesitation and I went ahead and just threw away all of the coils and replace the spark plugs, and it was like a brand new truck. Another symptom that would point to coil packs being iffy would be the start-up behavior of the engine, particularly if it feels like it isn't quite catching on the first attempt to start.

With the low mileage it would certainly be reasonable to use some injector cleaner in a fresh tank of gas (Chevron premium if possible).

I would agree with your sentiment as some sites aren't as friendly as others, and most of these systems are shared among platforms with the odds are someone on here has some kind of similar issue to yours. Any chance you have a collapsing vacuum line, a damaged vacuum line or a knocked off vacuum line?. You can also try and test your coil packs, maybe getting a misfire somewhere...
