Not really. The bumper only weighs about 150 pounds. I did the 6112s to get the original ride height back. It went down about a half inch. Everyone talks about how nice it rides though.

After reading this entire thread (and others), I am still torn on tire size to pick.

I drive a 2020 Platinum on which I installed 6112s (1.9”) and 5160s with Toytec 1.5” shackles. I purchased TRD OR 18” wheels from another owner and had them powder coated. My plan is to keep my current 6112s, 5160s, and wheels. If I were to buy Nitto Ridge Grapplers, should I go with 285/70R18 or 275/70R18? From the reading it is hard to tell if 285 will fit.

UPDATE: attached a photo. Not the best photo, but clearly my tires are too small :)

Well after much debate :monocle: and many sleepless nights :annoyed: I have finally decided on a set up for my stock 2021 Platinum !!!:fingerscrossed:

    6112s at 1.9 on Front
2 DS CB Shim & 1 PS Shim
    5160s on Rear
    3 in CB Shackle
    Method 305 18s
    Falken Wildpeak A/T3 - 275/70/18
    ARE CD Evolve Topper

All should get installed next week. Before & after pics will surely follow. Thanks Everyone for all the opinions and guidance on this thread.

    Limited knowledge but...
I went to 285's on stock 20'wheels (285/65/20). My tires are taller than the ones you mentioned but the same width. You may run into issues with clearance on the ICAs... I was "ok" by the tire shop but too close for my own comfort so I slapped on a set of Spidertrax spacers to be safe. If your wheels have a different offset, you'll be fine but if the same as the 20's it's 50/50.

My guess is the 285s should fit. I’m running 285/75/17s, which are roughly the same size as the 285/70/18s, with 6112s at the 1.9” setting. My wheels are Icons with +25 offset, which is less than the stock offset wheels. So your tire/wheel combo should fit.

I am in the same boat as above. 1.9 with 285/75 -but I also have 1.25" spidertrax spacers. I think even without them, you will be fine.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/285-70r18-vs-295-70-r18.79280/

something to keep in mind when deciding between these 3 are weight, gas mileage, and load range.... for example. a lot of 285 are 10 lbs lighter than 295.. and that is just one example. dont stress... it'll come to you =)

    Hi Guys,

I was going back and fourth with The 285 70 18 but decided to get the Toyo Rt 295 70 18 with method 315 +18 offset. For a while I was worried about worse mpg but who cares about mpg when driving a 5.7l v8. It will only drop maybe 2 mpg at most. If I could do it again, I would have gone with the 285 70 18 only because now I have to do the body mount chop. Only problem is.... it’s a leased Tundra. Lol!!!

Did you get it aligned already? You should be able to have them out the caster more positive to avoid the BMC. I did 35/12.5/18 with a +18 wheel and after alignment don’t need to do a BMC. My caster is currently 2.5 driver and passenger. was 1.7 before. I did have to remove front plastic and do lower control arm skid trim.

What is your lift/shackle setup? I may be wrong but I think our stock wheel offsets are identical at +60 mm.

My understanding is your +25 mm offset gives you 35 mm more clearance on the inside of the tires. Correct me if I’m wrong, please!

Which wheels are you running? And what offset?

Are there disadvantages to running wheel spacers?

More offset equals less chance of rubbing the front plastic bumper piece and body mount by the rearward fender. However, with a wider tire, more offset increases the chance of the tire rubbing the skid plate or upper control arm. But 285s should be fine.

I am running the TRD skid plate. Any idea if that takes away clearance relative to the POS stock black metal skid plate that they put on at the factory?

I am currently leaning towards the 285s and if they rub on the UCAs there are probably aftermarket UCA options to remedy the situation (?).

The black OEM skid plate on the TRD Off Road package has wider coverage at the rear. I had to trim the corners when I put on 295/70 R18's on the stock rims with the +60 offset. The TRD Pro skid plate (aluminum) doesn't appear to be as wide and does not rub and requires no trimming. I've had 295's on both my TRD OR and the TRD PRO, and neither have rubbing on the UCA's, fender wells or flaps.

    Stock TRD OR 18" wheels.

I personally am unaware of long term side effects of spacers but I am sure someone else could chime in ..
