I can’t wait to see the redesign and I will probably consider one after it’s been out a few years.

I would say nothing is obscuring the windows except the back window, but they may have an exception for trucks (for the back window, not rear side windows) in CA like they do in WA. As long as the lights are visible per DOT standards and are the right color it probably is legal to have them covered.

All that to say I think this truck will turn out to be a Ford, cause it looks like a ford to me, based on the covering of the front headlights and just the way it sits.

Toyota hired away a engineer from Dodge a few years ago for the rear suspension, from what I remember. It's probably going to be like what the Dodge's have now.

    https://dodgeforum.com/articles/rams-rear-coils-beat-leaf-springs/

Kinda ridiculous that it's 2020 and $60k+ trucks are still using suspension designs from the 1800's.

Regardless of what diehards I think the definition of a success would be selling out all of the product, IMO that is not "A total disaster." A disappointment to diehards but not to Toyota.

Disappointing Toyota never updated the tow mirrors to offer all the features for the 2014+ redesign. Hopefully you can get the next gen fully loaded and have tow mirrors that have all the features offered on the regular mirrors. The new mirrors look like they'll offer good visibility, they look similar to the GM tow mirrors from the pictures. I'm glad it doesn't look like a flip up style tow mirror similar to what Ram is using.

I hope Toyota doesn't do air suspension in the rear, I'd rather see them do regular coils and maybe incorporate KDSS from the 4Runner and Land Cruiser.

On the flip side, part of me says keep it simple and just have progressive rear coils without air or KDSS.

Hmm, I thought they looked a lot like the Ram style flip up mirrors...

Maybe my eyes deceive me, I thought they looked like the 2020+ GM tow mirrors that side out to extend.

I just don't see enough room for them to flip down?

I'll be real disappointed if they are carryover. More I look at them the more they look like the current ones.

Upon closer inspection, I think you might be right. Too bad they didn't go with something more similar to the previous gen GM mirrors. The new ones are ugly as hell.

They’re definitely not carry overs the proportion of the top mirror to the bottom is definitely different than the current factory tow mirrors, which is a good thing.

and the post meets at the bottom of the mirror as the current ones are more in the middle.

Yes the current Toyota tow mirrors are horrid.

I just hope they give the new tow mirrors the puddle lamps, BSM, power fold, power extend, and auto dimming top glass features that are available on the non towing mirrors.

I don't see any rear aux lamps in the tow mirrors, so I'll assume the front is similar to the current tow mirrors. I'd say it'll just have turn signals and clearance lamps on the side of the mirror like the current ones do.

I like the look of the current mirrors but, since I don't have a trailer yet, I haven't dropped the money on a set for my truck yet, so I don't know what they're actually like to use. I also don't have or need any fancy features other than heat, which I still don't use much because I have a canopy so I don't really need the rear defrost.

They're better than the regular mirrors, but I think everyone else's tow mirrors are better in regards to visibility. I'm not a fan of those that do the GM mirrors on the Tundra, they are much better "tow mirrors" but it just doesn't look right to me. I just hope Toyota can put out a decent set of tow mirrors on this next truck

Toyota is always like this. Half the time I think they tease the new model is coming out...Wait until the others bring out their new stuff. An then they go back and do more development. Toyota has always been secretive and delayed stuff. Nothing new there. As far as Nissan goes...what a waste of a once good company. Wish they would wake up and start bringing it.

I think this thread needs some stirring. Side note, I did just place an order for a 2021 Ford F250 Tremor PowerStroke. Now you can all start yelling about how diesels are the devil, etc. We have a Polaris General and a trailer, and I'm truly getting sick and tired of redlining my truck to get over the Sierra's.

    A bunch
Only thing I can poke is that it's a Ford, I like them the least out of the 3. I find the cabin too cramped (the door is damn near a foot thick...) and I'm very hesitant on Ford electronics. But the 6.7 PSD is crazy powerful, I do miss driving that engine. Hopefully you get the highway mileage I could get with my 2013 work truck (22-23 MPG) not what I got on the 2017 (12 MPG).

Out of curiosity did you look at the 1/2 ton diesels (if your trailer is small enough)? They have nice power (I like the 3.0 PSD more than any other Ford 1/2 ton engine) and get damn good mileage.

I don't know what the designers of that Camry, current 4-Runner and now potentially the Tundra was smoking, but they need to get off that stuff.
