Hey guys just thought I’d update my few months ownership and 4000 miles.

Unfortunately unhappy with it. I know the obvious answers are just take it to Toyota blah blah. I got it so I don’t have to deal with the headaches. I will be taking it in for first oil change and have a laundry list for them.

    2021 CM 4x4 SX.
First thing I have a rear differential whining at 54 mph, very noticeable. Second thing my steering wheel vibrates around 2K RPM range whether in park or driving. My steering wheel also clunks From going over small bumps in the road and also just pressing the brakes.

Again I just needed to vent, very frustrated.

Sorry to hear that. Was your truck built before or after all the COVID stuff? I am sure quality has suffered on anything manufactured since the COVID mess began.

Man, it seems 2021 has more trouble than previous model.

    Dunno about that.

My '21 has been flawless once I learned about the abs "thud" when first moving (which all gen3s have) and the engine roar when starting the truck when AC/defroster are engaged (which all gen 3s have).

The sensation in the steering wheel I suspect is normal. Does it feel like a high frequency vibration like tuning fork? try a 4Runner they are worse. My 4runner did it so I went to dealer and sat in 5 on the lot and revved engine and they all did it. My Tundra does it but barely noticeable. Lexus owners werent happy so they installed a weighted steering wheel.

My 2021 has been flawless. Has some items I don't like such as fan roar but it is characteristic of the vehicle. Mine makes no sounds at any speed and zero clunks in steering. I am sure you have solvable issues, let them investigate.

Ok...school me on the ABS thunk/thud. Picked up my 2021 1794 Saturday and have noticed a thunk when the truck first starts to move after sitting for 15 minutes or more

I am sure they will get your truck sorted out. Those sound like quick fixes. Did you notice any gas pedal vibration or lack footwell heating in the 2021. Those along with the bed bounce drove me crazy on my 2019 crewmax. I ended up trading it in on a sequoia.

Mine was built 10/20 as well and no issues at 1200 miles so far. Clunk and bed bounce still there just like my 2008.. no big deal to me personally.

One of the biggest reasons I moved up my purchase date was due to Covid and the build quality. When I was able to get 0% financing I jumped on getting my Tundra. So far it has been perfect. I think my build date was 10-2019. I hope that they are able to resolve your problems and get the build quality back to what we expect from Toyota.

This forum is great. I appreciate the support. Frustrating to spend 43k++ on a truck and have to think about repairs. First new truck I ever bought hah

That is extreme. My kids knees would bounce up and down in the back seat and it drove my wife in the passenger seat crazy. It’s a text while driving prevention on those concrete roads with a lot of seams. The bed just has a mind of it’s own and can’t stop it. Even with 500lbs in the bed.

Pretty sure it was Ford that put out this bed bounce video. They definitely designed the test to enhance the bounce on the Tundra because that is who they were targeting. Every truck has a frequency of bumps that will upset the suspension. Ford probably put 90 lbs of air pressure in the back tires also. :D

Absolutely incredible. For once in my life I don't have a problem other have, lol. I drive on every type of road there is, concrete, Blacktop, segmented concrete and my truck rides so smooth at all speeds at times I find it dangerous because I get lulled to sleep. It drives perfectly straight with zero effort, no pulling, no wandering. My 1 ton rattle the fillings out of your teeth.

Your steering wheel vibrates in park? Man, there's some serious weirdness going on there. Sounds like you have quite a few issues that, at least in my limited knowledge, are not common. Hopefully they get that dialed in for you.
