Built the wife her Xmas gift. A coffee bar with storage for some of her mugs, and side storage for other crap.

12ft tall Japanese maple in the front that I do every year for my wife. Keeps getting bigger and longer to do. 16 100 count led strings. Every branch and ziptied to the limbs every 4 inches. Over 1100 zip ties ( I know this because I have bags of 1k per bag ). Also, to separate some of the branches I use wooden kakabob scewers and spray paint them brown to blend in with the limbs. Started at 9 am yesterday and gave it life at 10 pm last night. Literally 13 hours with th wife bringing my meals and cocktails to me. Might be why it took a little longer haha. Just my ocd I suppose...
Pics do NOT do justice but....

Thsnk you. We really enjoy it. I love doing it for my wife as this is her favorite holiday. I told her when I was done that I deserve a TRD Pro shifter knob. She said of course you do. Buy it! We both win haha

Hung a few pictures in the dining room. This is why we do picture rail in most rooms - no holes in the walls!
I use 50# monofilament for the hanging “wire” with swage leader sleeves to secure it, and #0 screw eyes on the backs of the frames.

Thats always a clean option to hang pictures. Very smart! I noticed your home has rosettes and fluted trim. Do your door casing also have plinth blocks at the base of them? This is common on many Victorian trimmed homes.

Yes. And 5-1/2 tall base boards. When we designed it, we drew a lot of inspiration from old Victorian-styled farmhouses - so very practical layout with every space having a purpose and getting used, but tried to still put some nice little details into the trim. We’re still working on it (moved in 15 years ago), but that’s how it goes.

I actually made all the rosettes and plinths myself.

Very nice attention to detail! I like the molding profile you used on the top of your plinth blocks to compliment your base board trim. Did you go with any judges paneling as well? I’ve always been a fan of the details in Victorian homes.

No, we felt judge’s paneling would be too formal for our house. We did do chair rail in the powder bath (and split the paint color above/below). Also planning on eventually adding crown to a few rooms that don’t have picture rail. Might add chair rail to the dining room too...to actually protect the walls from chairs!

I dropped two new electrical lines into the ceiling of the garage to plug in some shop lights and then another ceiling outlet for the garage door opener. The prior owner just had the opener plugged into an extension cord that was zip tied to the garage door track and then dangled down the wall to the outlet. Soooo much better now.

Next up is to run another line for the new spotlight security camera I bought last week. Not looking forward to that attic work at all...

Haha thanks. I put a little effort into the shape but they were just SO excited that there was finally enough snow to build a snowman! They fully enjoyed it and the ensuing snowball fight afterwards.

So we got a waterfall type faucet. The tub came in yesterday so I will take some pics of the area. Plumber should be at the house today or tomorrow.

    Impressive work!

Do you mind sharing what type of wood was used and what did you do to get that unique finish? Also where was the wrought iron sourced from? I've been wanting similiar like for my Queens office space.

Yep. I’ve been drying out rough sawn redwood pickets for a few months. The panels are sanded ply, and I used the redwood for the frame. The door frames are pine, since the redwood can be kind of weak to hold hinges. After assembly, I sand the rough sawn down with 220, just to knock it down. Stain with dark walnut, then spray finish. After this, the rough sawn is super rough. Knock it down with 220 hand sand again, then thinned down wipe on finish.
Here is the barn door hardware, which I had to modify.

Any builders on here with home placement on lots can help me out?

we are looking at the lot attached. We are wanting to build a 2000-2500 square foot home with attached garage. We need to figure with the setbacks 60 ft from the road, 25ft sides and 15 ft rear if it’s possible to put a house on this site and a detached 35x25 garage with a breezeway. And have some back yard.

we’re meeting with a builder on Saturday to see what they can do but it would be nice to figure it out a little now to put a deposit on the lot. The 84 feet on the roadside is the concern.

Finally, the last of the tile has been removed. Just covered the floor with some harbor freight moving blankets so its easier to walk on and the dog can't pick up little bits from the floor. Tile guys were supposed to start today, but now he's coming tomorrow. Wish everyone could stick to their schedule so we'd get done sooner. New doors start getting installed tomorrow as well. Think we're going to ditch the flush wall mounted hallway lights and do recessed lights instead.
