Well, I did it. Or at least ordered it.

6112s set to 1.9in for the front
    5160s for the back

Installation is set for next Friday. I’ll be sure to post up pictures.

thanks for all the help everyone.

anything else I need to know or think about specific to this install?

They settle. Or at least mine did and I’ve read of others doing it. It took 3 alignments to get mine to feel right. Yours might not, but just in case ask for a 3 year or lifetime alignment deal.

I have found the ideal setup after trying different settings over the last two years.
I use a 1/2" shim on the driver side and 1/4" shim on the passenger side. This equals 1" lift at driver and .5" lift on passenger.
This does three things: It levels the driver side lean. It provides more droop. It reduces spring preload.
The 6112 are set to 1.9" so the additional shim lift gets it to 2.9".
Droop from ride height is 3.5" of down travel which is important as it avoids the hard top out feeling which is normally felt from preloaded springs at the 2.5" setting with only 2.5" of down travel. In other words it doesnt top out as hard or as often which means it also keeps the tires on the ground with more traction.
I am running a 2018 CM with 17" Rock Warrior wheels and 35's and rear 1" lift shackles with 5100's in the rear. It sits perfectly even at all four corners.
For UCA I am running @74Weld billet aluminum arms with Moog ball joints and urethane bushings. I have 6 degrees of caster and near zero camber with cams in the middle. It drives perfectly on the freeway and off road.

Firestone has lifetime alignments for about the price of 1.5 alignments. Not always absolute best but you can go back the next day if you don't like it, even to a different location.

Yes. Get that. Around here it’s Goodyear for 3 years. I made some adjustments to my icons and have been there twice. Going to go back again a third time next month when I get my inspection. Pulls to the left.

Exactly, unless you run some seriously rough roads or washboard roads the 5160s on rear are not worth the expense. I had them on my Taco baja and I could out run the mules on rough ranch roads. That is the only time I noticed a ride difference between that truck and my prerunner.

Curious where you’re getting the 6112/5160 from. I’ve been trying to track a set down. TIA

I posted the sameish thing in the sticky 6112 thread but after a bunch of research on this forum I went with the 6112 / 5160 set up and am happy after 8k miles. There are better options but this seemed to be the best balance for me in terms of use/cost/availability/etc. As a matter of personal opinion, the truck rides better on the pavement and seems solid on the light trails i run. I think the biggest improvement was upgrading the tires to larger Nitto RGs but no way to separate the two... I found mine on boss-offroad.com and they got them to me quick and provided good install advice. Had a GREAT local shop in Tampa do the install and I'm happy with the end result.

What was your total out the door cost after parts and labor? When you say "rides better", is it smoother overall. With the TRD Sport stock suspension I feel every bump on the highway. Somehow CA has some of the highest registration and best weather in the country, yet the worst highways and freeways...I digress...I'm looking for a smoother overall ride, with only occasional off-road, trail driving. 6112/5160 is where I'm leaning for the same reasons you stated, but then some people on here and other threads say this won't get you the smoother ride.

The lift was just over $1500 for parts and another $500 for install. I did put on new tires (another 1500) at that time.

My truck had 34000 miles when I bought it and the ride defiantly improved after the lift and tires. It could have been the tires as much as the suspension so I may not be the best test case but it looks great and rides great for me.
My take on “rides better” is that I can cruise over speed bumps in my neighborhood without spilling coffee and haven’t hit a pot hole yet that’s made me curse.
    good luck with your decision!

Love it, that the exact setup I have on order right now. With the exception of the shims. I'm stuck in backorder with Bilstein. Hard to tell in the pic, but with the methods, did you leave the lip bolts as the goldish/zinc lip bolts? I'm debating swapping them out, but they look great in your pic.

I thought that maybe the truck and its ride were in an argument about quality somehow?!:monocle:

Some more pix of the final product. The only thing left that I ‘have’ to do is get rid of the chrome door handles and platinum badge.

so now that you’ve had it for a few weeks, how’s the ride? I’m currently looking at the same set up for similar reasons and everyone is pointing me in this direction.

the ride seems good so. To be fair with the holidays I haven’t really been out much, nor off pavement since I got it installed. Hoping to get out soon.

Do you have to buy anything else to lift it or do you just buy those shocks and it’ll lift your truck?

Depends on if using old top hats. New ones are not needed unluss keeping old shocks intact. The 6112 only lift/level the front nothing in back would need shackles, springs to lift up the booty!

Right on so if you are not going to reuse the top hats on the reds billys you will have to order those or have pre assembled before shipping.
