    I just got the stoptech sport cryi slotted rotors and love them. A bit noisy at low speeds but grippy as all hell.

    Powerstop will make your pedal sink farther and not have as good a feel to it. They stop and work good, just feel softer due to them using ceramic pads. I had mine up to around 500F before I got brake fade. I replaced the pads with ebc and the pedal is firmer.

    You're the first person I've heard not like the powerstops

    I have the z36 pads and they got rid of the shudder I had instantly, so I'm inclined to like them.

    oh hell, on any toyota it's easy to get a warp. People need to learn how to brake haha

    the 4+ star rating on Amazon in the link in the OP seems pretty decent to me

    Over ten percent of ratings fall below 4 stars. The bad reviews highlight fitment issues and warping. My cutoff for lower reviews is 5 percent. Just saying?     Also stoptech makes the TRD brake kit so they have experience with Toyota factory specs. The above reasons was the deciding factor for me in buying stoptech. Also stoptech offers cryo treatment for a very competitive price. I don’t think power stop does.

    Been running POWER STOP Z36 ,Truck and Tow, drilled and slotted, for about 3000 miles no issues , no fade, no warp, working great, front and rear.

    I’d go with EBC ultimate blanks or slotted rotors and EBC yellow pads.

    Had bad experience with drilled rotors and will never go back. Track car had slotted and drilled rotors, and the drilled area started to crack due to the heat and heavy braking. Figured with towing, it will generate lots of heat too, so I don’t even bother with drilled.

    I have the PowerStop pads and rotors on my Hellcat as well as my Tundra. I love them on my hellcat, they grab well and rarely fade, and one of the best things is they don't dust at all. On my Tundra it was a bit of a different story. They fade pretty quickly and they don't grab the way they should. I would yank them off but they're not horrible and I'm too cheap to pay for another set.

    I never understood the need for drilled and slotted rotors other than looks. In the old days when pads got very hot and "gassed" they were needed. Now, with new materials, I like to hear what you were doing when you gassed your brakes. Having said that, if you want more bite, look for a different pad material and save some money.

    I went to Mt Washington in NH over the summer and on the drive down I started getting brake fade. At the bottom I tested the brakes and they were all 500F +. This was with power stop brakes. But yes under normal driving, brakes shouldn’t get anywhere near that hot.

    My point exactly. An engineer told me the drilled holes weaken the rotors unless the brakes are way over built (think Porsche). Last time I gassed a pad was running my car at Bridgehampton Race circuit. Down the main straight at 150 MPH and breaking. But I emailed some of the major pad companies (Hawk, EBC, etc.) I explained my use and they recommended the proper pad material for my application. Problem solved.

    Having said that, I have a 2020 and think the brakes could use a bit more bite. But with only 3,000 miles it will be a while before I need new pads.

    Side Note: Bosch DOT5.1 (five point one) brake fluid has a higher boiling point in regards to heated brakes. Swappable with DOT3.

    PowerStop Tow/Haul Pads are working nicely for me. They are virtually dustless as mentioned above.

    Great point regarding brake fluid. I change my brake fluid before each track event. In my street cars I do flush the systems as brake fluid is hygroscopic (substance is able to absorb or adsorb water from its surroundings) and water in brake fluid will decrease braking. Not to mentioned the water will rust (pit) the inside of your calipers.

    I flushed mine with motul 5.1. I read 5.1 fluid takes longer to warm up also. My brakes do feel less powerful the first stop in the morning, but are fine after that.

    interesting thread and from what I have read and have been seeming is slotted is better than drilled because drilled rotors tend to crack. Drilling them actually weakens them.

    now I won’t debate the validity of that but I can certainly understand the argument. Still I’m in the market for front and rear slotted rotors and I would like to get a matching caliper and get it painted red. I’m not sure of the advantages over the stock caliper other than it’s a matching set for my rotors.

    please give an update on the upgrade you guys have and how they have performed over time

    I have never been a fan of slotted or drilled rotors. I think if you ask most people why they install them the answer would be appearance.

    People can correct me if they think I’m wrong but isn’t the function of the slots and drilled rotors to allow gas to escape if the brake pads are “gassed”. I think the new brake pad material is far superior to what we used to have. I did gas a set way back in the 1970’s with my Chevy. A few stops from 150 MPH on the Bridgehampton straight and when I pitted, the chain link fence luckily stopped me.

    More recently, I speak to the technical brake specialist at all the pad companies. Tell them

    1) What the current brakes are doing that you don’t like

    2) What you want the brakes to do that they’re not doing

    See what they recommend. You could save some money. But as I say….

    Its your money, your truck, do what you want.

    BTW: My friend who is a race car driver met a Corvette engineer. He asked why the Corvette had drilled rotors. The answer was customers want it.

    I’m looking for an increase in performance but the cosmetic appeal isn’t a bad thing for me either.

    That’s what I got for an upgrade since I tow a 5060 pound travel trailer plus added camping gear. I like them.
