Ok, will the link for purchase be listed soon? or its just under this link? https://vftuner.com/collections/vf/products/tundra-5-7l-2018-vf-tune-pack

And for those that don't have the cable, can we purchase it from you knowing it'll work vs buying random ones off ebay?

You said modify further, what if we don't have confidence in ourselves to modify the file you provide? can you modify it for us? and how is that charged?

I sent him an email as requested. I don't mind waiting on a reply. I know he is a busy guy. I see the tundra tune pack you listed is $250, wonder if we can just buy the tune, or if we need the vf tuner software as well, if its only $250 and I don't need the vf software I'll jump on that in a heartbeat! I don't plan on modifying the tune at all. So I don't need that capability.

I'll let him clarify on how its done, as I'm not familiar myself and want to know more too.

So, just to clarify. If I have VF for my 2019 Tacoma that was traded in for my 2021 tundra:

    1) Will the tune pack that I would have gotten for my Tacoma equate to a tune pack for my Tundra?

    2) Do I need to purchase anything additional?

    3) At this point 2021 tunes are not available but should be by the end of the month?

    Thanks.

Trucky truck has been your biggest fan and patient one for years. He even did dyno testing for you early on and that’s where I was told your dyno charts came from. I am sorry to see your response to him. I would hope you give him a session to get it fixed. I know my session with you worked out all the bugs in just a few hrs and the tune is awesome now! I would hope you can do the same for him. He’s been very helpful to many on this thread over the last year and a half.

I think you are reading my response wrong. I'm not denying him any attention, session or testing he needs.

No matter what I say or don't say you guys take it wrong every time.
I'm saying, and have ALWAYS said we will continue to work with everyone, as much as necessary, to get them what they are looking for from their truck.

I want to be very, very clear. Because some of you guys somehow take what I say completely wrong. ANY of our original customers can/will get any custom tuning that want or need, including 1 on 1 time, by appointment. Some ECUs we can't do gearlock and DirectShift on yet but like I said before if your truck is one of those AND you are willing to test files then we are happy to work with you.

My truck is one of those. GL is not working but DS works fine. On the tune before this one, the GL worked perfect. I don't have a job so I'm available to test files even on east coast time.

Did you trade your tacoma *before* registering the software or using your tacoma tune pack? Trying to understand the "would have gotten"

Sorry to hear about not working, especially with everything going on. If you are willing to assist in testing let's knock it out

Personally, I think you should try reading Mat's response again, and try not to do so with your preconceived notions based on your own complaining that you've freely expressed all along. Mat didn't say or even hint that he wasn't going to help trucky-truck with any remaining problems. Mine is one of the ECUs that can't get the gearlock/direct shift options, but Mat did get me the gearlock option (which I find very useful when towing my boat in hilly terrain) via the tow/haul button option that was originally planned way back when.

I registered the software (I think?) in order to test a speed limiter delete file for you. I did not receive or purchase any Tacoma tune packs yet because I was waiting for the new ECU update for the new TSB and the performance 2.0 tunes to be released.

Is there a way to check in the VFTuner software if it is registered? I’m assuming it had to be in order to flash a file.

If vF Tuner is not registered when you open it it will ask for your master key, and that's as far as you can go

It must be registered then if I was able to get through to flash the test file you sent me but I never received a tune pack. What does this mean for me then? Do I get a Tacoma tune pack from you and sell the whole thing to a Tacoma owner or can I just get a Tundra tune instead?

When I open VFTuner and go to license information it appears to be registered and I have 5 available credits (I have never purchased additional credits so this must be the number that comes with the software).

if you did not purchase a tacoma tune pack then no need to buy one. vF Tuner is not vehicle specific, so it's the same vf tuner for tundra, tacoma, etc etc. if you just want the premade tunes you can buy the tundra tune pack **when released** for 2021.

Don't open any files or you will end up using your credits. Then you'll need more for your 2021

Perfect, I’ll wait for the 2021 tunes to be released and purchase the Tundra tune pack. Thanks.

I could be option two. I have a run of eighteen consecutive days off coming up. Only catch is that it's because of The Holidays (18 Dec - 4 Jan) I can't imagine you'd have much free time and want to work.

I just re-read this. My understanding was that I would get a free tune pack for my Tacoma as a pre-VFTuner flash kit owner. I was wondering if that translated over to the Tundra since I never requested the pack for the Tacoma yet?

    Sorry for the confusion.

No it wouldn't translate to the Tundra. You get a "free" tune pack for the tacoma because it's tunes you already purchased when you bought the flash kit.

So can I flash that tune onto another Tacoma if I purchase the requisite credits or is that $390 value essentially just gone?

Yes you could if it also has a matching ECU ID. but that is subject to change because people have been pirating our files around. (tacoma guys mainly). You'd still be allowed to but it will be credits per vehicle in the future.

So I know this has been asked but I checked the last few pages and didn’t seem to find the answer once it was asked. So I have a 2016 Tundra 5.7 non-flex. The tune seems like it would help me with MPG and towing, am I right on that so far?

If I want to get everything I need to get a prepackaged tune what do I need to buy? I’m not interested in tuning my own truck as I would have no idea what I’m doing. Just looking to get everything I need from you guys to get better towing and MPG.

Do you mind PMing me your email. I am pretty sure you are ECU ID 0CD33 but can't remember *who*

At the moment we are still on limited - support for these older trucks until we have all ECUs in vF Tuner. You would need the vF Tuner software + cable and Tundra tune pack (if you wanted our tunes) BUT it is important to know that not all ECUs are ready/available. None of our tunes specifically create better mpg or are oriented to give better mpg.

Hey Matt, few questions about VF Tuner:

    • After registering the VF Tuner Software we have to send you that info to get the tunable file, correct?
    • Once we open the file it uses those tokens/credits for that any ecm of that year/model "all 2016 5.7..ffv/gas/etc", or That specific ECM?..."CM052"
    • Can VF tuner remove codes like P0420/P0421 that we see with headers (low efficiency cat. converter)?
    • When do you expect the tuner to be released for the pre 2018 trucks?

    Thanks!

@OVTune I figured you would have my ECU since mine is a 2016 which was your initial test bed I thought... Granted mine isn't Flex Fuel but I thought it was supported for 2016. Any chance we know when it is going to be supported?

it's more of a matter of do we have the ECU file or not. There is I think at least 8-10 different files just for 2016

I went to the forums but I can't find where it tells me how to figure out which ECU I have. I also can't find where I can see which ones are supported: upload_2020-12-17_14-43-20.jpg
