I tried plastidiping mine today. I didn't like the rough looking edges so I removed it. Well as much as possible. So much damn overspray.

Agreed on the overspray but it removes really easily. If you catch if fast enough a rag and water pulls it right off. Spraying on goes really easily, obviously, and peeling everything else was easy. But, the inside of the lettering annoyed the shit out of me so I got rid alltogether

Yeah the inner part of my R had a chunk come out then on the 5.7 badge the top line was not crisp and clean so I just ripped it all off. Not a fan.

I was able to get a clean line on the 5.7 and left it on the truck. I kinda like the mono-badge look. If it gets on my nerves or is more maintenance then it's coming off

Was this so you could add an amp? Or just to add speakers?
    Thanks

Both. The factory HU has just a decent sound without cleanING it up. It's like the old saying "if it's crap coming out then all you're doing is amplifying crap." That goes for aftermarket speakers too. With the aftermarket speakers (and no processor) it's going to be TREMENDOUSLY better!!!

But if your going for concert style (like I was) then an aplifyer, speakers, and a sub box will gain more power and without the processor then your just amplifying factory sound, which is absolutely fine for most people.

My thought process was that of I'm going to get it right the first time and avoid having to pay for more additions down the road. It's not a cheap addition (around $300) but makes all the difference in my sound. JL makes a fix-it box that cleans all the mess out of the factory HU and converts it to that concert sound I was talking about.

Bottom line....you DO NOT HAVE TO GET IT, but it certainly helps

If you keep snapping photos and admiring that dope truck your foam is gonna set in and make it hard to wash off!!!

It's hard not to admire these things. It's like a new parent...."look at the baby..look at the baby!!"

I actually wrapped them. They look good but I'm going to get painted end caps and swap them out. But it will probably be a couple of months before I do it.

Figured if I cant keep the outside clean I may as well put the extra effort into the interior.....now Im just discovering all the flaws in the interior. Mostly discoloured plastic. But hey if thats all that is wrong with the truck, I cant complain.
Either way its all in the back seat where I normally dont drive from.....IMG_20170319_165532.jpgIMG_20170319_165054.jpg

I removed my decals with no problem but I'm a little nervous about the badges. I grabbed some fishing line out of the garage and used a heat gun set on low and from a distance of 6-7". I tried the i force badge first and successfully got through the corner. Once I got into the center though, it basically stopped cutting and I broke the line a few times.

Is this supposed to be this difficult or am I not giving it enough heat ? I'm buying some stronger line tomorrow and give it another shot.

The iforce badge is probably the most difficult because it's so big. With thinner line, try doubling, trippling, quadrupling up... as many as you need to make it stronger and cut with a sawing motion. Intertwine the line almost braided to make it saw better. A little more heat would probably help too.

I broke the fishing line 20k times. Get heavier line or apply more heat to it.

That's awesome. So, at the end he was talking about touchless. Just using the foam cannon and then just rinsing off. Now that I'm interested in. How well does that work Steve? And on a really dirty truck.

Wait, you wash your vehicles every week?? Holy moly! Alright, that's it, I'm washing my truck next weekend. If it doesn't rain. If I'm not busy. Maybe. :D I'm going to borrow my brother's pressure washer. Maybe I should buy him the foam cannon for his birthday. I think I would wash my truck more often if I had one of those. I don't know how you guys do it.

i used 50 lb line from wal mart for $1.78 with heat gun on temp 200 for about 30 seconds for the SR5 badge and about 60 seconds for the Tundra badge, all of which came off with ease. Then, what glue didn't come off i just started on one side and rolled the glue up and pulled off in one piece. All 5 badges together took less than 15 minutes. Then i grabbed an old micro fiber cleaning rag and poured a little goof off and wiped it all clean. washed with soap and done. The entire mod was about 20 minutes from start to finish.

    easiest mod i've done
