I was raised on Fitzgerald whiskies, made at Stitzel Weller in Louisville, KY. These included Old Fitzgerald, Weller's, Cabin Still, Rebel Yell and Pappy Van Winkle. All forms of Pappy are great but are too expensive for me. Cabin Still at about $8.00 per 750 ml and 80 proof is what I like. All of the Fitzgerald whiskies have a similar mash bill and yeast. The primary difference is in aging, proof, small batch, single barrel, etc. 2 o3 oz. of the new Cabin Still over a large ice cube, gets the job done for me. Cabin Still was one of W. L. Weller's original brands that Pappy Van Winkle brought to Stitzel Weller in 1935.

When Stitzel Weller was broken up in the early 1970's, Cabin Still was acquired by another distiller who substituted an inferior bourbon into the Cabin Still brand. Cabin Still sales dropped and the brand was sold again.

Cabin Still is now made by the Heaven Hill distillery in Bardstown, KY, who now also makes Old Fitzgerald. Both are made using the original mash bill and yeast strain for each bourbon. It is now 80 proof instead of the traditional 90 proof.

Heaven Hill does not spend a lot on advertising Cabin Still but the bourbon is very, very good.

So it's been several, weeks sometimes that helps. It is better but just not as good as the Private Selects or 46.

My brother got me two bottles of Bourbon to add to my collection for my birthday. I’m very excited to have the Weller Antique 107 in my collection!

I may have stashed for this reason :anonymous:

It's priced really well right now, but is allocated technically.

To me, as a Kentucky resident, looks like an interesting whiskey but it is not bourbon. Kentucky limestone water and the hot summers in the bourbon warehouses are the heart of Kentucky bourbon. White oak barrel staves, made from Kentucky white oak trees and cut at a 45 degree angle, AKA "Quartered Oak", is what makes Kentucky bourbon great. After the barrels are emptied, they are shipped to Scotland and other countries as they may be used only once for aging of Kentucky bourbon.

One of my local places hooked me up with some EH Taylor Small Batch Bottled in Bond. There always so hard to find these around my area unless you know the right people. AFDCA7FE-6ED6-40CE-933E-09240F476459.jpg

This one was $35. I have three different EH Taylor’s in my collection. The single barrel I have was a little more.

That’s cheap. Wanna ship me one?!? :)

I’ve tried schlepping it up with the local boys and they are all rude, don’t care to talk, and could give two poops about their customers so I have no inside scoop.
