Greetings from Utah! I've decided it's time to get a truck again, and after much thought I've concluded that my next one will be a Tundra.

I haven't quite decided yet which Tundra I'll be getting, though. I like the 1794 and TRD Pro trims the best, each for different reasons. But with many dealerships charging a markup on the Pro, as well as incentives being offered for anything else, it appears that I can likely get more value per dollar with the 1794 Edition.

Then there's the question of whether I should buy now or wait for the 2022 models. I like the idea of having a solid truck with a reliable engine that one can expect from the current generation, but what if I buy a 2021 and then wish I had waited?

Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts. I like that this forum exists and I'll keep you all updated once I officially join the family!

Its a hard decision. Most of us steer away from the 1st year model with a major redesign until the bugs are worked out. With that, Toyota has said nothing about the 2022 or its engine options, but there are many speculations about the V-8 going away. A couple of months ago I sold my 2013 4.6 and bought a 2020 for the 5.7.

Welcome from CO. You can wait a little while, see what the new gen has to offer and if it’s not what you want you can still get a 2021.

Same boat here, when do you think the info on the 2022 will come out? Late 2021?

Welcome from the wet side of WA.

Most speculate the early "previews" of the 2022 model will be around superbowl time, and the real details will start to trickle after that. Expect them to start arriving on lots late summer '21. But, like others have mentioned, no real details and it's typically a good idea to let the "bugs" work out of any major model refresh regardless of manufacturer. I traded in my '08 with 298k to get my '21 because I figured that if 298k miles was still running like the day I bought it, I'd be a fool to not bet on similar results from the same engine and drive train.
