Installing a Pioneer AVH-2250NEX to replace my factory head unit. I am I stalling the Maestro kit as well. 2 questions.....

    1) Is there an adapter for the USB plug so that I can use the OEM USB port?

    2) Anyone have any luck with the camera? I have the Anytime front and rear kit but I can't get either camera to show on the display.

Ok so I got the cameras to show somewhat. If I go to Camera View in the menu, the rear camera will show, and I have to select the front camera on the dash switch to view it. When I go into reverse, I get a black screen with the grid lines up in the upper corner.

Yes there is an USB adapter that you will need. Maestro, Pac and Metra make one. As for the camera, I’m not sure what the wiring for the “anytime” looks like but as for the reverse.... make sure that the camera rca is plugged into the correct port on the back of the radio. Make sure that the purple/white pioneer wire is hooked up and getting 12v when in reverse and ground when out of reverse.

Thank. I'll look at it. I still have it apart. For the USB, something like this that plugs into the Pioneer and then the factory plug enabling the port in the dash?

Yes... just make sure it’s for Toyota. I believe that Best Buy carries it in stock. If not the axxess ( metra ) they should have the maestro

The purple and white connects to the purple and white on the Meastro harness. Is that incorrect?

I know alpine makes a kit for the Halo 9 that has everything to use factory port. Installed on Tacoma and was straight forward. Entertaining the same thing on tundra.

So after some digging, the RCA is in the wrong port. It should be in the brown one. I will move it tomorrow when I get the USB adapter. I'm getting the correct trigger for the reverse since the screen pops up, I will have the cam image once I move the RCA. The yellow RCA port that it is currently in (which is an additional camera input) explains why I can see both cameras when I select camera view from the menu. I'm hoping that once I swap to the brown RCA, the anytime cameras work like they are supposed to when I use the switch no matter what screen or source the radio is in.

Check the build link in my signature.
My experience in researching is that the USB adapters out there so far from PAC, Maestro, and others hasn’t “caught up” with the Carplay head unit USB plug change. I have this adapter on order right now (hoping it shows up next week):

Everything I can tell, this should be the right one to go from that plug in your picture (which is coming from the factory media USB port) and hook into the back of your head unit.

When I was installing professionally and CarPlay/AA first came out, we used to always use the usb cables that came with the new stereo. Then cars started to come with factory usbs but the manufacturers really hadn’t come out with usb retention harnesses. As more and more demand came from people wanting to retain the “factory” appearance, that’s when the adapters came from Pac, metra, idatalink ect. I can’t tell you how many thousands of the retention harnesses that I installed BUT in the beginning, I ran into very few problems. The major problem is resistance ( too long of a run from the factory USB port to behind the radio and then adding your Apple cable ). Too long of a run. A couple things that eliminated the problems in the beginning was to make the connection as short as possible. From the factory connector plug in the adapter directly into the back of the radio. Do NOT use the usb extension that comes with the new stereo. Keep the length short as possible. Finally, use an Apple approved cable. Preferably an actual Apple cable. Just because it “works” doesn’t mean it’s a go. Do not use a gas station cable or a cheap one! I can’t tell you how many times customers came in with problems and I took their charging cable out plugged mine in and it worked.
Trial and error before you put everything back together.
    This is just my .02
    Good luck

Ok so I moved the RCA to the brown port and the camera works as normal when you put it in reverse. Also, while in reverse, I can switch between the front and rear cam. I can switch between front and rear when I am in the Camera view source input as well. So it sounds like what I need to do to get the "anytime" feature with the Pioneer is get it on the reverse trigger input? I am going to email their site as well.

I have to be honest. When you say front and rear anytime camera kit... is this something you’re trying to build or did you buy? I ask because if you bought, you don’t need it because the radio supports both. I just don’t know what you’re wanting to accomplish ( give me what you are wanting ) so I can try to help you wire it up

I understand if you’re using this with a factory radio. What I did when installing and also on my personal vehicles in the past on pioneer aftermarket stereos that support 2 cameras. If you have the 2550 you can toggle between the 2 AT the radio. So I don’t know if this kit makes you put a switch in or not but why would you not use the feature on the stereo. To me a “cooler and factory pioneer” feature. 2 cameras.... 1 for the front and 1 for the rear and ditch all the extra nonsense wiring ( just me personally ) since you have the pioneer. Rear camera.... needs power and ground. Hook the ground to a ground in the truck and the power wire to a switched 12v wire ( power when key on and rest at ground when off ). Cigarette lighter connector is a perfect place to get this power and or ground IF switched ( should be ). Video rca goes to the brown input on the back of pioneer radio. Pioneer violet/white wire on harness connected to reverse trigger. That takes care of the backup camera. By feeding power to the camera and not hooking the power wire for camera allows you to look at camera on pioneer when you want AND automatically trigger the camera when in reverse.
Front camera.... power to cigarette lighter power ( same as rear ) and ground. Rca to the front camera video input. DONE!!!
On the pioneer menu... backup camera set to reverse and video input set to camera view. You should see a icon that has a 1-2. That will toggle between the 2 when you want while driving

On Pioneer you shouldn’t need an anytime camera kit with the Maestro. You just go into the menu to cameraview. The rear camera goes into the Maestro to be converted to 6v, and your front camera goes straight into the secondary camera plug on the headunit

I had the anytime kit installed and connected to the factory radio and used the switch for anytime viewing. Its all a plug and play harness. I can use the switch if I go to Cameraview in the Pioneer as you mentioned, but I should be able to activate them without going to the Cameraview source.

It’s likely triggered by a reverse signal somehow which the aftermarket unit probably interprets differently

Yeah thats what I'm thinking. I'll get in touch with anytime camera and see what input they might have.

Tundra234, did you solve this? I want to install a JBL radio from a 2018 Sequoia Platinum (ref.: 86804-0C170) on my 2006 DC Tundra with JBL. My only concern is the trigger wire for the camera as I'm not sure it will be 6v or 12v ?
