I’m looking for a blacked out third brake light that will actually fit my truck without any painful drilling or filling needed! Does anyone know of a 3rd brake light that is simply plug and play? I can’t find any with good reviews, and I have already purchased one that requires drilling holes to fit!!!
2012 Toyota Tundra crew cab!!! Thanks guys!

    here is what I did:

    - swapped toyota light bulbs for some VLeds LED light bulbs
    - smoked painted the oem light housing: paint + clearcoat.

maybe $40 top total including the new LEDs

    looks great imo

Your better off doing what @TheBeast did. I went the PITA route, which requires you to remove your pillar bolts (not a big deal there). Popping your headliner down to get to the 2 bolts is what poses a bit of a challenge. It helps to have a magnetic 10mm socket if your gonna go this route. Good luck:thumbsup:

I fitted a solid led black light and then decided it was too dark as it was not so visible as one would expect. I then changed it for a smoke coloured LED light that looks good and is more visible. These lights are cheap and generally do not require drilling.Even if they do this is not a big drama. You need a 10mm deep/long socket to undo the bolts from the inside.Just remove the bolt under the airbag plastic clip (small round plastic cover) on the side of the rear seat drivers side.Pull the plastic cover out and then gently pull the headlining down. There are 4 clips securing the headlining (push in/pull out). The other tool which is helpful is a magnetic prong...looks like an old fashioned antenna with a magnet on the end. This is because the nuts can fall off the retaining screw on the light and into the roof space. This is not a problem when you are removing the light but is when you are installing it ! Hope this helps.

I went with Spyder Smoke/Black all the way around. 3rd Brake light was a little unnerving for me, only because I did not want to damage my headliner. Thankfully I did not. 2 piller 10mm bolts, 4 clips (each about 6 inches apart) on both sides of the center. Small hands definitely benefited me with this mod. 2 10mm nuts on the inside. Used a 10MM socket with magnet insert. Worked like a charm. Took me about 2 hours due to cleaning off the stick liner factory garbage. Used WD40.. That also worked like a charm. Out of all of the mods, this and the Rough Country grill insert were the most challenging. But it can be done. Side note: I had went and bought extra nuts and lock washers and an extra 10MM magnetic socket just incase I managed to drop one in the cab. Ended up not needing them. Patience is key.
