Not really worn out other than the shocks and bushings. Its kind of Hot and dry here in the desert s/w. She has about 147k miles, the motor and the rest of the truck are just fine. paint is rough in patches but great shape all around and NO RUST.

Shocks on our trucks are easy. Get whatever replacements you want and about 15 minutes per side later you are done.

Lots of shudder when going into reverse. Also, you can crawl under the truck and grab the tail shaft, wiggle up and down, looking for excessive play/wear on the rubber part of the rear mount.

I have a pretty good mechanical hand and have done a lot of basic stuff in the past on older cars, trucks and a van even. Brk jobs, water pumps, alternators, fuel pumps... never much suspension work outside of wheel bearings. I gave up trying to work on newer shit cars as they are too complex and small. Part of the reason i like this truck is its ease to work on. I have a few mechanico friends and with the wealth of knowlege and support here will attempt to do what i am halfway comfy with......

    @Darkness
$870 for 2 front shocks installed
Months back I almost purchased the Eibach suspension (rebranded bilstein) that came with the front springs. The website had the option to have them assembled, total was about $800. That's the front struts with springs and top hats plus the 2 rear shocks.
That would be perfect in this case

OP if you are comfortable with doing wheel bearings, and all that engine work than this is just making another sandwich with different ingredients. Like most have said, I would do what I could myself and if you don't feel comfortable with something then take it somewhere. Also, youtube can guide you through it all as well.
As far as labor costs go, ALL shops (correct me if I'm wrong smart ones) use a universal guide (Mitchell) when it comes to a specific job and how many hours it takes. The only difference is that an indy shop may charge $80 per labor hour when a dealership may charge $125 per hour.

    edit for grammAr

@bassman417 you can order bilstein 5100 front shocks at wheelers, if you sign for their email membership you get 10% off your first purchase. They might also have sway bar links.

You don't need to do any of this in a rush, your truck will drive fine and you can piece this together over time.

Unless he wants to raise the truck. Wouldn't he be better with the Bil 4600?
Maybe I am wrong. Thought the 4600 ones where more like oem.

I'm late to the party but OP, run, don't walk away, run from this stealership and never return. Those prices are stupid. Plain stupid. They are trying to steal from you. Between posts on here and videos on Youtube, Most of that suspension work can be done by yourself if you have some tools and jacks/jack stands. You can also buy the parts for much much less and have a local shop put them in if you are not sure you can tackle it yourself.

The 4600's are similar to the trd off road shocks. They won't raise the front. The 5100's have the adjustable spring perch and so does the Eibachs I posted above, they are the same

I have strut compressing-tools from decades ago that look like inquisition torture devices--the last struts I did I got a free rental from Autozone and it was a piece of cake! You'll need a vise or a buddy to hold it, but it was a 10-minute job.

Plus, we're here to help...FWIW. Correct on rates, depending on the joint. Here it's like $99 and $150.

Yeah Im going to start replacing bushings soon and one by one take care of all these easy jobs and whatever else she needs first.
Someone suggested collecting the needed parts.
I'm never in any rush, but kind of excited about it actually....

Dealerships are independently owned, manufacturers influence is heavy but final word is on the owner. The whole business is a big mess
