I'm considering get the front TRD sway bar for my 18 crewmax. Since most of the Toyota dealers here in the south have free shipping. So for those of you that have installed it was it worth it? Any advise would be appreciated.

The TRD front swaybar is a little beefier than the stock one, minor improvement. Now adding the rear sway bar really makes the most difference.

Decent upgrade but you will not see a huge difference like when you add the rear TRD bar. The TRD front bar also looks really nice.

I’ll have to disagree with the previous response. It’s A LOT beefier. The stock bar is hollow, the TRD bar is solid steel and very heavy. I installed it myself.

In conjunction with the rear sway bar, the truck handles like it’s on rails.

Thanks for the help. I already have the rear sway bar. @1999cutiger was the install hard?

The front bar is very simple if your good with a wrench. Spray the bushings with PB Blaster if your up north in case they are seized on the bolt like mine were. The guy I bought it from left the endlinks on it so it took me about 30 min to swap out and that was with a sticky end link bolt. Also had a LCA bolt break its weld if you take the wheel off there is a spot to get to it with an open end wrench. And its a wierd size so if you dont have a 21MM open end wrench get one just in case.

If you already have the rear bar you will notice a big difference adding the front. It is a solid bar unlike the hollow factory one and is about 15lbs heavier from my grip-o-meter, maybe more. Plus its bright red and that makes it 1000% more effective.

Not too bad of an install. Take your time and torque everything appropriately.

Can I ask what the truck is not doing and what did you want it to do?

Add a bigger sway bar in the front may make the truck understeer a big more.

But then again I doubt anyone here is road racing their trucks. :)

    This right here ^^^.

Having a second set of hands, that's willing to get under the truck, is of definite benefit.

The truck does what i want it to. But if i can add a little better ride and performance why not plus it's a Christmas present to myself and it's a cheap mod.

Both are standard on my Sport and do a nice job of reducing body roll. They look cool too...!

I removed mine due to making the front feel stiffer when hitting bumps or qhen driving on California shit highways.

For those of you that installed the sway bar yourself did you put grease on the bushings? I saw a video and the guy put never seez on the bolts too.

Hello Everyone! After 3 long months of waiting we finally got our 2021 Voodoo blue SR5. I had them add the TRD rear sway bar from the factory. We plan on doing a lot of towing. I can't compare the body roll to a stock rear bar, but I am interested in the front. They did not give me the option for a front bar or I would have had them throw it on.

My question is do I need to buy different hardware to fit the TRD bar, or does the Bar use the existing hardware? If so does the bar include said hardware with purchase.

So what size sockets do i need to remove the old sway bar? I'm guessing a 19mm. What other sizes would i need?

The 19mm is for the end links where they attach to the bar and the lower control arms. The 4 bolts at the bushings are 17mm.

I'm curious how much difference the front bar makes.
I added the rear bar to mine months ago and it made a huge difference... so now I'm thinking about swapping out the front bar too.
