I want black Tundra emblems instead of the chrome ones. Any recommendations to achieve this? Plating on existing emblems, or other model with black Tundra emblem to replace these? It looked like the previous Tundra Pro might have had black emblems, not sure if they were modified. Going for more of a blacked out look than chrome and shiny. Thanks.

Plastidip works pretty good, and is cheap. The Pro Tundras do have black emblems on them as well, so you can purchase those to replace the ones you have. More expensive, but you will never have to touch them up like you would with plastidip.

I took mine off and used black spray paint that Toyota uses...I grabbed the paint from AutoZone.

Removed my emblems today, ordered black Tundra Pro door emblems. I like the clean look, I will have to think about this before putting the new black ones on. Couldn't bring myself to spray the chrome emblems on the rig, not worth it for a $100 investment in new TundraPro emblems. I bought these rims from a guy that had a TRD or Platinum for $800. They came with Michelin LTX A/T2 275/65R18 on them, my stock truck had the hideous silver steel rims with the LTX M/S2 255/70R18. Hopefully I can get $800 for my rims and tires, getting this set basically free. Truck is coming along nicely, considering I have minimal invested into changes. IMG_1925.jpg

Those are the same wheel/tires on a TRD you got there. It's much better than the grade option.

It doesn't take much time to take off the emblems, paint them black (or just tape off the surrounding areas and use plasti-dip) apply new double sided tape and re-apply.

    Black on white looks great!
Are you keeping the grade shocks are upgrading to the TRD's as well?

When you say "grade" what does that mean? The rims I had on my SR5 Tundra last week20150325_105348.jpg were so bad I couldn't even find any images of them. Here is a pic of them, the ones I am trying to sell on CL.

I plastidipped my badges, and I like them, but I'm going to be pulling them and painting them black.

What has been the experience with scratching the clear coat when removing the emblems? I did this for the first time on my car years ago with Goo-Gone and it worked great. Then I did it on another vehicle and the clear scratched so bad I had to have a detailer buff it out.

I'd like to remove my crappy SR-5 Logos and plastidip the rest

    Joe,

Why remove the emblems? I did my 2012 emblems chrome to black. I just purchased 2016 TSS 4x4 black, I went black emblem to silver/stainless custom plastic dip, $12 a can, painted chrome bumper end caps with black plastic dip, added TRD grill, 3" Toytec front, 1" rear leveling kit. 35" Toyo AT's.

Watch YouTube on emblems, good luck
