I dont know much about the immobilizer system. But let's start with checking ALL the fuse. Especially the AM labeled fuse. Physically pull them out and check or check continuity with multimeter between each fuse.

I was searching this and one guy said something about the immobilizer antenna being real short. He cycle the key a couple times, flipping the key 180 degree, guessing to have the immobilizer chip inside the key closer to the immobilizer and that fixed his issue.

Nothing there either. I've tried a couple things I've found like on/off real fast 5 times and holding the panic button for 5 seconds and inserting key into the door, unlocking and holding it there fore 20 seconds.

Is this the first time it ever done this? Seems weird that it just did this out of nowhere.

Oh that just suks. Only way to get the truck running now is to find a way to reprogram the chip to the immobilizer. I dont know how you can do it without the master key. Which I'm assuming your current key is not, correct?
This scenario was inevitable. If your battery had die and you bought a new one, this situation could also happen. It's weird that the immobilizer brain did not retain your key's chip.

Do you have Techstream? Maybe there's a way to program your key again to your truck's immobilizer.

I guess you have 2 options now. 1. Call the local locksmith and see if they can program the key for you.
    Or
    2. Call the dealership, that's costly to get you a new Master Key. It might cost up to $200 for the new master key. I hope it's less.

I'm going to tow it to Toyota dealership tomorrow morning. Get this key situation resolved with a spare etc. Too much money I know
Then I'm looking up a audio installer to finish the work for me. I'm done.

Thanks for your help though. I greatly appreciate it.

Sorry couldnt help much. Really hoping the audio stuff would be simple installation. Best of luck with the key situation. This extra expense was not in the planning.

    Email from dealership:

The tech started to determine why you had a no crank on your Tundra. Ritchie reports a error code of B279A (theft dererrent system communication line high fixation. He also found a open in the remote start harness. Harness ordered & tech determine more diag & damage possible. There is sign of a mice nest, foam protector chewed, mice droppings with wires damage. The tech is recommending to remove the dash & evaporator box to determine what connection or part has failed. Labor to start is 10.2 @ the labor rate of $140.00 ($1428.00) . Parts needed-that could be effected are Engine ECU ($1019.47), Transponder ECU ($380.00) and the Dah’s harness (2156.00). Tech states unable to determine a fix until the dash is removed. Insurance will need to be involved.

Something is not right about that. Ive unhook the negative battery terminal 100s time when working on electrical in the car before and never had a surge that would fries some wires to cause such damage.
I dont know if the dealership is trying to yank your chain or not, but to me that sounds pretty weak for an reason. Something just doesnt add up on their diagnosis.
Honestly, i just redid both of our vehicles audio system ('10 rav4 and '17 sequoia). Ran new power cable and everything. All did when unhooking the battery terminal. Unhooking the battery negative terminal is the safe way to do it.

Well you must have a remote start of some sort installed, based on the Toyota tech's evaluation that there was an open in the harness. Remote starts bypass the immobilizer, so if some the RS wiring is messed up I would definitely start there first. My .02....

Dealership said unhooking the neg cable didn't do it though they can't give me a reason why. Only the ECU transponder needs replaced so it will be about $2200 instead of 5 grand.
I did post that it was from disconnecting the battery but I was mistaken and deleted the post.
I was angry and jumped the gun on that.
Hopefully it will be ready tomorrow and I will want a detailed explanation of everything.
    Insurance isn't covering it BTW
Also I am extremely apprehensive about installing the sound system. Checked a couple local installers with an average price of $800 to $1000. Yeah that ain't happening.
Regardless that's where I am now.

Installation cost is definitely high. Wish you would give it another try later down the road. Completely understand where you are coming from being apprehensive considering the current situation.
Did you try to get master key made while you're at it? In case you need to program new key don the road.

Where are you located? There gotta be someone on here that live close by that can help you install the system. Unfortunately i may not live close by, otherwise i can help lend you a hand with it.

I will probably try again or do most of it then get another price quote. After all the sound dampening material and door speakers are in place. I mounted the amp but didn't wire it up, ran wire for amp and front camera and some other odds. Maybe if I get it to just the head unit install and connection .....

I did ask them to make another key while programming the transponder. They know I only have the one key.

I live in Wilmington NC area.

I just looked over your harnesses and it looks good and complete. You just gotta run the power cable from the engine bay. Mount the amp, mount the sub. Ran the sub wire from the amp to the sub.
Then you should be good to go.
The large grey connector in the back by the chassis bar does not get used or plug into anything. I check my Sequoia and have the same plug, it was taped up though. So dont worry about that. You will have 1 plug from the radio that doesnt get use. I have couple on my that did not get used when i installed my android radio.
So dont concern yourself too much.
Is the maestro programmed? Had tech12volts programmed it for you already?
If so, you should be set. When you get your truck back. Plug the maestro harness in and plug in the kenwood radio. It should power up.

I forgot to ask. Do have backup camera? Does it come up on your factory radio when you are in reverse?
If so, the 3rd connector would be for retaining the factory camera. You would need a 6v camera adapter for that if you are not using the Idatalink TO2 harness kit.

I have already ran the power cable from engine bay to the amp. Haven't hooked it up though. I got the maestro from crutchfield but have not programmed it yet. I'm fine with doing that. I do have the TO2 harness, I mainly wanted the odb interface.
I have two aftermarket cameras. Haven't ran the rear one but ran the video cable to the front one.

The info you stated is very helpful and gives me a little more confidence to continue. I'm scared to death to remove the neg cable from battery.

I would go ahead and program the Maestro now when you are free. From the look of things you got the correct harness, TO2, so everything will be good.

You NEED to unhook the negative battery terminal now, this way you can check whether the dealer fixed it for good.
Dont wait until you need a replacement battery to unhook them. By then it may be too far down the road and the dealer may give you the run around.

If they fixed the issue for good, there will be zero issue removing the negative terminal. You dont have to do anything else to the radio if you dont want to. Unhook it for 2-3mins. Then hook it back up. Start the car and if it's good to go, everything will operate like normal.

Im sure the dealership had already done this before and after fixing the problem.

Well they still have it because they didn't bother to check whether the new key worked or not so I'm pretty sure they didn't check much. However this a good reason TO check the neg cable ASAP.
They have had it a week now.
One would expect more from a Hendrick subsidiaries

You hate to be up their behind about it, but it needed to be done. Dont want the truck back and have issue. You paid for the repair and it needed to be done properly.

Hey guys, to all of you that have ordered a package from Tech12volts, how long before the items arrived (sub enclosure, amp, sub woofers etc) and were they all boxed in separate boxes or one big ass box?
Also, what warranty do they carry?
I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on the Kenwood/Hertz complete audio package from them.
    TIA

Takes roughly 10 days. Mostly to get all the parts and build the sub enclosure (and allow it to cure before shipping). Might expect things to take a little longer in the middle of xmas rush.

If the cause of the problem was due to a mouse chewing on the wiring, it should be covered by the comprehensive portion of your insurance policy (assuming you have comp coverage).

I finally got my truck home today. Along with the repairs above, the computer components that controls the tire pressure monitor and air bags were fried. I had them replace the air bag controller and leave the tire pressure one unhooked. This was an additional $500. They didn't charge me for labour or the rental car they gave me, just the part.
So that's where I am now, terrified to touch anything. I know I have to though.
