Does anyone feel like they actually found a great deal on black friday? I feel like I just use it as an excuse to spend a lot of money. I looked for a deal on Smittybilt winch but never found one.

Am I wrong or does this seem like a good price for Long Tubes? $519 with their 10% sale.

I have never made any "good" or worthwhile BF deals. Even if I tried to convince myself I was getting a "good" deal. I just decided it best to stay away this year.

 

I think my DeWalt Impact Wrench was a great deal. I didn't technically buy it on BF, but they were advertising it as an early BF deal, so I'll count that...

 

Agreed. That was a good price. I'm glad you pointed it out. Hoping my wife gets me a bigger battery for Christmas.

 

@FirstGenVol not really. Amazon has some pretty good deals on Garmin watches and Home Depot has some typical sales on tools but nothing extraordinary.

Some European car parts places are having good sales but im probably the only one here who enjoys that.

 

Home Depot had some pretty good deals on Milwaukee tool packages. I picked up a 1/4 inch drive impact with a 2.0 battery, charger, and bag for $99. My last dewalt bit the dust makin up shoes on hot 14.4 lines.

Also picked up all pro spindle gussets, control arm gussets, and sway bar centering collars.

 

We're feeling that Christmas weather here too

 

A few weeks ago I reported my seat belt light would occasionally flash. It did that again yesterday with a passenger but my cruise light also started flashing. The cruise still worked though.

 

Was up near 80° here on Fantasy Island today. Felt a little schweaty.

 

28°F when I went out to start the truck.

14°F with windchill factored in.

My lil ole truck squaaaaaaled. Usually fires on the 2nd/3rd crank. Took 4th crank for her to squeal to life. Once she warned up the squealing, and chirp went away.

 

Part of Project, “Stop 5,000# of Metal and Death....Better” involves new tires.

Which meant deciding if I wanted to hold onto the wheels longer. And how I wanted to handle the goal of a full sized spare.

So after a month of debating, and getting closer to snow driving, I finally purchased the TRD Pro Wheels in Matte Black (PTR20-35110-BK).

Now. Black lugs?

 

Ye. Probably the fan bracket pulley thats chirp squeal until warm. That was my truck the past two winters early morning cold starts. Read a reviewer say its the fan bracket and sure enough it was. The pulley rotation was grindy in the hand once it was pulled off. You could feel that gritty in the Mojo.

 

Yeah, I'm going to have my work cut out for me when I get to this job. Deepest dive into any automotive engine I've ever done was my injectors.

Definitely going to have to take a week off work to work in drain, water fill, drive, drain, and maintenance repairs.

Also, per @empty_lord s recommendation I will check valve clearance, and make adjustments if necessary. (Link is how to explanatory guide.)

Valve cover gaskets, and cam seals too.

I'm only a lot intimated.

 

Use the Valvoline ‘Zerex’ 50/50 ($12) from the Wallace Wurrl as its the same as the ‘Zerex’ Zerex formulation for $19.

@Tundra2 we ended up getting a dusting of snow. This is only the 2nd time in 25 years I've seen it snow in November(or Dec 1). The first time was last year. Not even a week ago it was almost 70 here.

 

25° here. It lightly snowed all day apparently, and all night while I was at work. Nothing stuck, but it sure was bitter with 25 moh steady winds. Lol It wasn't "warm" but it was short sleeve weather last week. Maybe 60-65?

Y'all are getting them Kentucky weather mood swings.

Been looking at "garage" tents for temporary truck work if something catastrophic failed, and I had to get it done.

you have Harbor Freight? They sale those all the time. Don't recall if they end up cheaper than that.
Those tents are useful, but they are temporary. Sun kills the canvas pretty fast. Snow - they don't handle snow well - so get out there with a broom to clear the weight off pretty quick if you get a heavy snow on it. But they do let you work out of the wind/rain & if you don't burn off all the oxygen, you can run a heater on low so your fingers work. (just watch your oxygen content -LOL).

 

I know its a temporary measure. I wouldn't leave it up all the time. Set it up a day or so before I "need" it. 90% of my truck work is scheduled, and planned. 5% on a whim, and 5% is like these two images.

Mr. Heater on a 20 lb cylinder should do set on low. Opening the door every hour for 10 min. Seems like it would be a good water break time too.

I'm off this weekend. I'll take a stroll up to harbor freight, and take a peek around.

 

So having set up plenty of portable shelters for work in all kinds of conditions here's my expertly inexpert opinion. Get something with a 2" frame, they hold up much better and can be secured well.

Ours are King Canopy brand, they have withstood 60mph winds, 8" of lake effect snow, and have gone through 3 covers.

The thing that seems to make the biggest difference is how you anchor it. Get some of these, pound them in and then loop a ratchet strap over the top of each corner.

And finally, treat the cover with some 303 and it'll hold up to the UV better. If you did all of that you'd be able to set it up in the fall and leave it until spring.

 

In Mex, we’d just tie off a Heavy Tarp onto some trees at two points and the other two points onto some pole bean stakes. Fold it up and then roll it length wise.

 

That’s kinda how I do my hammock shelter when I backpack. Take a tarp and tie it to the same trees my hammock is hanging from, then just rocks usually on the other corners. I’ve found rocks work better than a stake because when I get into the hammock things sag and stretch, and those outriggers get funky. So with rocks tied to the corners, you get in, and then just reach down and toss those rocks away from you, and Boom, your gear underneath you, and you stay cozy and dry

 

Dude I learned this on my last truck camping trip, I thought skunks were nuzzling my shoes!
I’m slowly looking at building a trailer; but went and looked at some 185cfm air compressor trailers, but was disappointed by the lack of frame to build off of
So I either need to look at a different brand of compressor trailer or a different idea all together. Not sure if I want to diy a trailer
