I’m seeking assistance/insights for the purchase of a 2021 Tundra Double Cab MGM Nightshade.
I have spend hours reading all the great info on the forum, extremely helpful. I am looking for the most straightforward way of purchasing a new MGM Tundra with no/limited chrome, leather seats, heated seats and no hood scoop.
    Questions:
Based on what I have read it “may” be less expensive to go the Limited Nightshade route vs Limited TRD vs SR5 TRD and buy color matching parts and aftermarket leather/heated seats...does this make sense?

I would prefer the OEM black 18” split 5 spoke alloy wheel vs the 20” that is standard on the Tundra Limited that way I can add a 275/70/18 tire (undecided on tire) without lifting, but may level in the future.
Does anyone have knowledge/suggestions/has anyone done this, negotiate with the dealer to swap out wheels and tires at the time of vehicle purchase?

    Thank you in advance

I just purchased a tacoma and they would not give me any credit or swap for the offroad tires and wheels. But thats just one dealer.

Honestly, it sounds like you need to be looking at the Sport model. It comes with everything color matched already. It is a level below Limited, more in line with SR5.

Although, I am not sure the Sporrt comes in Double Cab, as it might only be in Crew cab.

If it comes in Double Cab, I would look at a Sport and have dealer swap the rims on it. If they are a good dealer, they will give credit for the Sport rims and put in the darker rims you want.

May be something to think about....

Another thing, I have always found it cheaper in the long run as it always costs me more money if I do not get what I want.

I have looked at buying lesser trucks and add what I want and it always comes out cheaper just to go ahead and pay for the Limited trim in your case.

The TRD Sport is available in DC, I have one. If they won't negotiate, you could always pick up a set of 18" rims from eBay, install the tires you want and then sell the Nightshade 20's

Why don't you go with the SX option on the SR5 ? No chrome, colour matched caps and bumper and you get your 18" black wheels.

Sport is just a package like the off road package. Available on SR5 models. The TRD Sport has color matched bumpers, grille, but does have the 20" wheels.

Thank you everyone for your insights.
I looked at the TRD Sport but I’m not a fan of the hood scoop.
I also looked at TRD SX option but it is not offered in MGM unless I’m not building the vehicle correctly on the Toyota website?
I like the idea of selling the OEM 20” wheels and tires in the secondary mkt, would prefer not to have that hassle/expense. I’m still hoping for insights from the forum on someone who has successfully negotiated different tires and wheels at the time of purchase.

Nope, you’re right. The SX is Black, White and Red only.
