    Hi All,

Just purchased my new TRD Pro and a bit excited. It was not your average purchase. I sold my 2010 Tundra 2 days after putting it up on CL just under Dealer Retail. I was immediately regretful, but “replaced” it with a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland which was the worst purchase I have ever made. So, I made it right 2 days ago and am quite ecstatic. The Pro’s are tough to find out here and where I LOVE the burnt orange, this is what was available and only because the party could not obtain financing, so it was available for me to snag it up. I like the white and was concerned with how the orange would show scratches and such, not to mention stands out. Either way, I am quite sure if they were lined up next to each other, or if there was a BO available, I would have chosen it. Awesome color, but I think the white still looks good with the blackout..

I have already ordered the ARE LSII tonneau and a Bedrug with the dust baffle. I use this rig for towing my camper and boat as well. In that regard, I really don’t use the bed for anything but the dry and dust free storage of all my gear and this setup with the keyless locking works perfectly for me. I had this setup on my old Tundra, with it working so well, it was a given here.

My only complaint with the Pro is the 275/65/18 Michelin tires. Unsure why the 4Runner and Tacoma have decent off road tires, but these are the same as the stock Tundra. Either way, I am replacing those once I decide on size. I had 285/65/18 on my old Tundra, and would like to go up to 275/70/18, but Discount Tire said it would rub. I am unsure if they know what the Pro is with the 2” lift up front, but it did give me pause… Maybe I will bring it in.

Anyway, I don’t want to be that person who signs up just to receive info. I do feel I can be of help being a prior Tundra owner, not to mention 3 = 4Runners. I saw so much good information here I just had to sign up…

    Welcome!
Im sure you could fit 33" on there. You might need some wheel spacers up front.

    Great color choice ;)

Welcome Bro... A few others have told me we can go up to 295/70R18 without problems. Not sure what offset limitations go with that though. I'm enjoying mine! No wheel or tire replacements yet.

Congrats & welcome! I originally was going to purchase a Black TRD Pro but opted out. I hadn't seen the white ones yet so this is the first one. The white on black looks awesome!

Congrats and welcome. Awesome truck. The all white with black and no chrome makes this truck perfect out of the box.
I have to ask, why did you sell the 2010?
What was so bad about the 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland besides the Tundra just being that much better?

Sorry, but this may get long. Not really sure how to clean it up for public consumption, but a death in the family made me want to reconfigure the fleet. It was done merely to try and shield my wife from very bad memories coming from taking care of a terminal person to the very slow end. A vehicle where much time was spent is only a reminder of the pain endured. Unfortunately, making the choice, I didn't realize just how much it would limit us from living as we had done in terms of camping, getting to the lake, etc.
As for the Grand Cherokee, not sure where to start, but I will never own another Chrysler product. Here are just some of the issues in the several months I owned the vehicle
    · Within a month I started having issues. Interior and Exterior panels started popping off. Initially when I took it to the dealer, they talked to Chysler who said they would not replace them because "I" had removed them per the broken the clips. I told the Service Manger I never removed them, to which he said that "someone did and it was not done here". Anyway, I "talked" him into replacing them and he did.
    · Around 6 weeks in my check engine light came on and stayed on. The first time we brought it in, they told my wife "it was because we installed aftermarket speakers in the back". Yes, that is what he said... So, they cleared the message, along with all our other settings, and it came back on as my wife was driving home from the dealer. She brings it back, to which they flashed the system to clear it again, and in doing so also did something to the AC, so when it was set to 75 it would blow heat and below that would blow AC regardless of ambient temperature. This time I brought it in to the dealer and told the Service Manager "do you know how ridiculous it sounds when you tell me a check engine light is caused by an audio speaker?". He indicates that "it's just how Chrysler designed their systems". I told him that to begin, I have not replaced any speakers, nor made any modifications, that their explanation makes no sense and they need to isolate the true issue. After a month in the shop, they finally fixed it.
    · Loud popping noise in the back occurs when sun hits the rear of the vehicle; Service Manager said it was a water bottle... It was not and was still present for my trade in.
    · Liftgate problems would not open/close, especially notable anytime off level and was replaced.
    · Shifting issues; would sometimes not take a gear. You would have to put it in Park and start again. They could not recreate.
    · Backup camera would stay on even though you were in drive and moving forward. They could not recreate.
    · Air conditioning issue of 75+ heat and 74- AC regardless of ambient temperature was met with skepticism, with them telling me that it was the way it was designed and Chrysler will "probably say it is normal". I had to argue this as well telling them is used to work properly until you guys flashed it the first time. My wife noticed it immediately upon driving home and my guess is the flash is what caused the issue, potentially need to be done again. What's funny about this is they reflashed it again for another reason and didn't realize they actually solved the problem...
    · Remote start would not turn AC fan on until you entered the vehicle regardless of how long it was running, so the vehicle would never cool. I am unsure why someone would use remote start if there is no benefit to cool the car before you get in. Never tested it for heat, but was told this was as designed.
    · Fuel smells that multiple time made me open the garage door for safety. Per my boat, I pay attention to this and with the boat in the garage, never had anything remotely close to this. They found nothing, but it did not occur in the last couple months.
    · I know this is a small one, but I'm not sure anyone who paid over $50k for a vehicle likes seeing it pushed by a car wash attendant placing their large endpoint on the vehicle. Only one car wash in four would drive it through. The rest would not per "unintended acceleration". Apparently there had been numerous accidents with these at car washes, or so an online publication says...
I'm sure there is more I am forgetting, but I was starting to think this thing would leave my wife/kids stranded somewhere, even all of us when in the backcountry. I lost every bit of confidence not just in it, but also the dealer. It was difficult to get a response back and when we finally did, they clearly were winging it and just trying to push it off as normal, or my favorite "I will call, but they will probably tell me its "as designed". So, with the failures I had, and the increasing realization that the "experts", weren't much better than me at troubleshooting or knowledge of their vehicles. Maybe there are kinks that need to be worked out, but I don't like stumping the dealer on the majority of issues. In my years owning 5 Toyotas, and multiple Honda's I never had anything like this before. Maybe this is why I was open to the Jeep as I was complacent...
To usability, the vehicle looked nice inside and out and was quite comfortable "when it worked". Many nice features, but it was the failures that ultimately did me in. The V8 was strong for towing with no issue there, but visibility was all together different as was braking. The air suspension was very nice for keeping the vehicle level with the boat on. it was very difficult to backup since I could not see anything with me no longer being able to do it myself and needing my wife to guide me into the garage. Certain boat ramps were of concern because on some occasions I had to get the front tires quite wet. It handled it fine, but it was a commitment I don't like especially with my wife at the wheel and her uneasiness of a backing a trailer up; especially into water. Off road, I would get sever clunking when on moderately rutted roads, or coming off a drop-off, rock, even a speed bump, etc. I will admit that Icy roads are where this does excel. Flip it in snow mode, floor it and its almost impossible to lose control, though it can mean you are only crawling. In that regard, if this were dependable, it would be a great vehicle for those people who live in snow country and hit the occasional washboard road on the way to Betty's house. Beyond that, for getting you into the backcountry, there is no way. Granted, all likely my fault for trying to replace a Toyota with a Chrysler.
Short answer is I must have been intoxicated to even consider a Jeep as a replacement. I had a good reason to take a shot, but failed considerably. Or, as my wife said, just maybe I was looking to upgrade to the TRD Pro...

Welcome! I put Toyo M/Ts 295/70R18 on it with no rubbing issues after I removed the small front mud flaps.

Damn Jeeps. I cannot stand my wife's Grand Cherokee Laredo. Rattling non stop inside, and everything just feels cheap.

It sounds like you had a horrible dealer...lol at speakers for CEL. Did they not bother to run the code to see what was popping it?

They did look for codes and all they saw was the alert for the "aftermarket speakers". Not sure what is worse, someone claiming a speaker caused the check engine light, or the fact that their system was flagging their OEM speaker as aftermarket.

Ok, you have to stop posting pics of your TRD Pro. It is starting to make me wish I waited for that color to come in... :annoyed: Great looking truck!

So, those tires work out to 34.3/11.61/18. I think I would like to stay around 33" with the 295/65R18 = 33.1/11.6/18. Do you think any modification is in order for those? Do yours stick out the side of the wheel well at all? Have you given it a good test off road to see if they rub?

I am seeing more of those Toyo's and they look great on your truck. I have been a BFG All Terrain guy for years as they seem to compromise between extreme road noise of the MT's. There has been times I wanted a bit better traction, but they have been great for the most part. I also live in AZ where we mostly contend with very sharp rocks. I don't recall what tires my brother has on his Taco, but he has had 3 punctures on the sidewall, where I have never had a problem. The BFG's however have several layers and very strong. Any issues with the Toyo's? I also tow, so the load rating is good on the BFG's.

BTW, TRDPRO1, have you noticed any hoping with the heavier tires, or are the shocks able to keep them on the ground where they belong?

Sorry................:bananadance:, here's more. Just be happy that you got a Pro in any color, very hard to come by. I've only put on 700 miles on the Toyo's and none off road and if any mods needed it would be the removal of the front small mud flaps. As for bouncing, if its balanced correctly there shouldn't be an problem.

10981072_905912789459764_3035319382643101292_o.jpg Con Grats on the Pro! I seriously considered getting a white one (and still would have if the Inferno had not shown up)...I love the Inferno color, and it actually doesn't show dirt real bad...will suck if a body shop ever has to match it as Snug Top did 3 test paints from various suppliers before they finally ordered paint from Toyota to get it right.....then again, my Pro is the little sibling, not a Tundra. have yet to see any other Pros running around NorCal....

Interesting that the Taco's are listed at 1000 (originally heard 1500). What made it worse was I wanted the factory tow option...seems pretty much every TRD OR or Baja TX Taco had factory tow while almost no TRD Pro Tacos had the tow package...chased mine for about 6 months and ended up getting it on a fluke as my local dealer got a Tundra and 4-runner but was not supposed to get a Tacoma....got a call out of the blue from the salesman I had talked with back in May wanting to know if I was still looking as there allotment sheet showed a DC TRD Pro Inferno w/tow being assigned to them....bought her before she was even built. Did the paperwork with the pre production Vin on my B-day and picked her up a bit over a month later....built Dec 2nd in Texas. Brought her home on the 17th.
