At Lowes today and parked towards the end in the middle with no cars within 5 spaces of me and came out and a junky old Dodge Dakota parked right next to me and sure enough a hard door ding and white paint scuff. So i took pics and decided to call 911 since i had a bad feeling the guy might not have insurance and no telling how he would act plus he had to very big and mean looking dogs in the truck. He come out and tries to ignore me but i get his atention and i say hey i believe you door dinged me and he says yea but it didnt do anything. I say oh yea look harder and he says oh i guess it did. Looks like he is just going to get in his truck and drive off so i say i am on the phone with 911 and i need your insurance and driver license and he instantly gets mad that i called 911. He says he is going to sick his dogs on me and 911 over speaker phone hears it and says for both of us to stay there. All the while i can tell he is very pissed as i am giving description to 911. He hands me an insurance card that is out of date and says there that is all you need i am going. He is pissed and i stay calm and collected as he is cussing me outs he drives off here come two cops and one goes after him and gets him pulled over but i dont know what ever happened to him. I filled out statement then called insurance co and luckily he does have insurance and just was an older card he gave me.

Not sure it can be PDR? Looks to me like it will take paint work but i really dont know.

Dammit i dont have time for this crap thats why i park way out but i guess now i will park way way way the fuk out.

I think it was a good thing you were talking to the police. Who knows what could have happened. Way too many degenerates in the world we all live in.

That's a scary thought and even scarier is that's been known to happen over something as trivial as a couple of dollars, much less a door ding.

if it's white paint from his truck, it can be removed. Pour a little bit of acetone or polish remover on microfiber and it will be gone. Then rinse with water/soap and buff it with wax. Then you are left with just the ding.

    Post pictures to be sure.

I'll try to post pictures tomorrow I am just enjoying taking care of my son tonight.
The guy also said that he would have given me $20 but since I called cops now I have to deal with his insurance. I wanted to laugh but did keep straight face.
I think I am very well disciplined and it would take an immediate threat to my life for me to draw my gun.
But yea... when people act like that, you know they are miserable.

Touched on one of my pet peeves. Why is it that no matter how far out you park, that some dingbat needs to park right next to you, regardless of how empty the rest of the parking lot is? My favorite is when I stop off somewhere and pick up food, then find a quiet space to park and eat my lunch, someone has to pull in next to me and just sit there.

My wife always complain about me parking so far. I always tell her why but she still does not relate to me. I got hit in the parking lot the other day with a nice chunk of damage. FML

That's funny!! Yeah I'd rather deal with insurance than the likes of him!!

It takes a real man to own up to his mistake and do what you did, keep their cool. Did the right thing bud, now just enjoy the night with your son and let the insurance hash it out!!

From my last encounter years ago, the cops did not come onto private property for an accident. Some lady ran into the back of my Tacoma in a large shopping center, cops said they would not come to the scene of the accident due to its location...

Not here. Cops do go to accidents on private property. I could do it as a volunteer, but didn't take the class cause I don't have the time o go to court if anyone decides to take it to court.

I think the dispatch lady was probably about to say just get his info and that they would not send an officer but it escalated so quickly that as soon as they guy said he was sicking his dogs on me, the cops had to come. I just had a bad feelin' from the start and im glad i called.
Really i was pissed and sick to my stomach from the dent but you would not have been able to tell.
If the other vehicle would have been a nice well taken care of vehicle, i would not have called cops.

Don't know about any of you but for me that gun is a last resort. I've made some bad mistakes in the past and I'd rather live with a ding than kill someone. If you take it out and your not really ready to pull the trigger maybe you get yourself shot with your own weapon. Just.02

Jeremy, I know there must be a police report somewhere to give to your insurance company.

You should have went to Home Depot instead of Lowe's but then again... Typical Home Depot parking...[IMG]

A little of this and a little of that.
Jeremy, sorry this happened to you. People are really jerks, period. And for him to threaten your life by sicking his 2 large dogs on you because he door dinged you is ridiculous. I can't even imagine how pissed I would have been. Glad you got his insurance and everything will probably be worked out for you.

This is exactly why I use my handicap placard everywhere I go. My wife would rather me leave the handicap space open for some really old messed up person, but I love my truck too much to park amongst the riffraff.

I got door dinged at a bank parking lot a couple months ago. I was in my truck when the guy nailed my bed with his door. I was on the phone at the time but did make a few exchanges with my hands. The guy didn't care just went inside. When I went inside turned out he was an employee and I quickly made sure to tell a manager about his employee's door opening skills. I didn't car or have time to make a big deal about it. But your situation sounds alot worse. Mine was black on black car contact and my truck was so muddy I think the guys car got more damage than I did.

I feel your pain. 2 weeks ago we had 3 days of high winds and I got dinged in the chiropractors parking lot. POS impala parked cockeyed in the spot next to me at the end of the lot, when I got there the closest vehicle was 3 stalls away. Unfortunately I didn't notice the ding until I was back at work. Perfect 'L' shaped crease, 1/8" deep and white paint center of the pillar right behind the rear door. Fortunately a PDR tech got it almost totally out, just a small paint blemish is left from the metal being stressed. It's too bad people can't own up to damaging another's property. I would have been far less pissed off had someone come and found me and taken responsibility or left a note with contact info instead of finding it after the fact and having no recourse. $75 later the ding is gone but I haven't let it go, so the girls at the chiropractors office are keeping their eyes out for a white Impala for me. I'm with you on the CC too. It's bad enough that people don't care about the belongings of others, but to react that way after being asked to own up to the mistake and do the right thing and instead take a threatening stance is exactly why I carry.

And whatever happened to owning up to your mistake like a man when you get called out! These days people just get pissed and act stupid.

The only reason I have S/S running boards is to help try and mitigate/prevent door dings. I think it does help. My recent install of the TT 3/1 lift and a little taller tires also seems to help. I also try and park far enough away that the lazy non caring "folks" would not dream of walking that long of a distance. I like the excersise.

So many people are totally clueless and careless and don't give a dam about others.
