I've been lurking for nearly a year now. Looking forward to finding "the right build" :benchpress: for my Tundra. I seem to sway back and forth like a ship on stormy seas! (Drop Bracket, Coilover, staying stock, :argue:) ............:annoyed:

Basically, I want to run 35s with a lift that won't rub (or negate the extra measly 1" of lift), but will also give me proper "breakover angle" to cross a small creek while off-road. -Nothing crazy off-road-wise, but I do drive off-road. Nor do I want to lose the Tundra's awesome turning radius and legendary reliability.

Anyway, I know the formula is tucked away somewhere on this forum.... I just have to find it!:spy:

    Welcome from TN!

I'd say adjustable coilovers (I'm a fan of Toytec BOSS), shackles, skid plates, and some wheels with 18-35 offset or spodertrax 1.25 wheel spacers if you want to keep stock wheels (would need to do MINOR trimming with those offsets and almost definitely a CMC with 35's

Enough to get you over those creek beds and more than comfortable enough to be a DD

Thanks everyone! I'm in Castle Rock, CO. Moved here 2 years ago from the Westminster/Broomfield border. I was actually born in Arkansas, but grew up in CO (since 7 y/o). Most of my family still lives in AR.

Not a new 'wheeler, or even a new truck guy. Built a 1976 Chevy K10 Rock Monster over the past 10 years. I was born and raised a Chevy guy. But when the new Tundra came out in 2007, I came to like them for their potent power plant, stout drivetrain, brakes,... everything down to the big door handles. They are Trucks. Anyway, a few years later, my Dad bought one. And a few years later still, I bought one. Now I'm sold. Best truck I've ever owned; and I've owned 8 trucks in my life.

I studied GunShow101's build thread over on TT (hope I'm breaking forum rules here), and watched his Youtube video about a dozen times. Love the look of the truck, and the wheels (the fact that they're simple, strong, and lightweight). That's what I'm going for. Functional system for an all-around truck that doesn't sacrifice a bunch of other things on the truck. I've built the "Rock Monster" on 42s with 1 tons, etc. I no longer crawl rocks just to crawl them. I watch my kids crawl rocks. Now I want something practical that can forge some trails to get me to my fishing and hunting spots, and still gather the groceries without fuss.

I've looked at ToyTec's Boss system. Impressive description, certainly. Seems there's a dozen companies out there claiming their system is "perfectly tuned to the Tundra in all aspects of driving". I agree that the stock suspension is soft and sways more than a politician during election time.

I've also looked into OME, Bilstein 5100 and 6112, and even the Drop Bracket kits. BDS seems to be the most "respected" DB kit, however, I just read an older thread where a guy had problems with the knuckle geometry and tire wear/scrub on tight turns. So this is where I get :annoyed:. Seems there are issues with ANY choice of suspension mod. I haven't yet found the formula where you raise the ride height, fit 35s, and don't cause a snowball effect of negatives:
    • CV angles
    • Steering Rack
    • Losing suspension travel
    • Turning Radius
    • Balljoint
Drop Bracket seems to prevent most of those issues, but gains other issues...

I need to take some good pics of the Tundra. I don't have any  yet. But I just sold my 1976 Chevy K10 Rock Monster, so I have plenty of nice pics of that. -Just to add some pics. (Am I breaking forum rules again?)
