This thread inspired me to try a few of everyone’s product suggestions so when I traded in my 2019 tundra for the sequoia the first thing I did when I got it home was a full wash down with Dawn soap, then Iron removal, then full clay bar with the griot synthetic clay and 3-1 speed shine. Then did a mist of the mequiars ceramic wax. Not sure if this was required but I also did another spray using the speed shine a hour after applying the ceramic wax. Seemed to help remove some of the streaks from my mistakes of spraying to much.

Lessons learned. Don’t put to much ceramic wax on or you will need a lot of micro fiber cloths and elbow grease to remove the streaks.

Question for you guys...For the first application of the ceramic wax would it have been better to apply it to the wet car instead of drying it first? Doing our other car and want to minimize the streaks. Thanks for all the help!

I recently detailed the outside of my 2016 I did the following:
    1. Wash
    2. Iron X (truck still wet)
    3. Clay bar (truck still wet)
    4. Wash
    5. Polisher finish
    6. Eraser
    7. Griot Garage 3-1 ceramic wax

If you want more information on the products I used PM me and I will list everything.

It took me about 4 1/2 hours to detail exterior of my truck.

Also @Swfltoyomafia and @War Machine are the detailing gurus that can answer better then I.

Here's a link to a video with Mike Phillips (Autogeek) and Mike Stoops (Meguiars) showing how to apply that product. It looks like the initial application, the base layer as they call it, is supposed to be applied to a dry car. For the record, the previous post by Damie Street is an excellent process.

I used the meguiars hybrid ceramic spray wax and the directions say to use on a wet vehicle no matter whether first application or not since they say its water activated. The first coat you are supposed to spray while wet(2 to 3 sprays per panel) and wipe it onto it with a MF cloth. This establishes your base layer and after that you just spray on about 2-3 sprays per panel then rinse off with a jet setting ir pressure washer.

Thanks guys! I read the instructions slower this time and sure enough it says for the first application just give it a good rinse after washing and then just spray it on and wipe down on first application. This is where I messed up but luckily the car was still damp and the microfiber was pretty wet so I hope it still made a good foundation layer.
