New to being a truck guy....planning on putting a 7” lift with 35s, then regearing to a 4.88. If I want my tires to stick out only 2-3 inches on each side, what offset do I need to be looking for? Or is that something that won’t matter until they go to put it on? Go easy on me here lol

Decide on your lift first, some of those higher lifts may give you a range of wheels/offsets that work with their particular lift.

And to mount 35s, you do not need a 7 inch lift. Many here run 35s with 3 inch lifts.

Off the top of your head do know how big of a lift I would need for 315/60r20s to not rub at all? Assuming their offset is how I want it..

Those are pretty wide, 12+ inches. To fit something that wide and tall you are probably looking at trimming some wheel well plastic, maybe a BMC too, along with a 3 inch or greater lift.

There are several "stickies" here that you should review- https://www.tundras.com/forums/wheels-tires.18/

Check the largest tire you can run post there, the wheel and tire setups post (lots of good pics and info) and the sticky on offset and backspacing.

There are lots of things to consider- the type of lift you want to run, how you will be using the truck, if you are street or using offroad, if you are towing, etc. All those things will point you to what type of lift could work best for you, and there are several types from simple spacers, to coil over lifts to lifts, some replace the crossmember to gain additional height (like the 7 incher you mentioned). From there you can determine what tires and size will work best and what wheels would be required, correct offset of the wheels is critical too tire fitment.

So, bottom line is you need to do some reading and research. This forum has a ton of great info but suspension lifts and correct tire fitment are truck specific. What fits and works for someone with a street only truck, never seeing offroad and towing would not work on a truck that sees heavy offroad use and extreme suspension flex.
