GF got bit, and scratched. Stings pretty good. She denied my reccomendation of leather gloves I provided.

 

Did some wheeling in my side by side today and came across this cool Toyota. He was able to go places that I couldn't manage today.

 

Box canyon flourence?
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen videos of him with my friend with a 80 series LC, that truck has some awesome travel

 

It wasn't too far from Box Canyon but it wasn't in Box Canyon. I'll check with my friend who led the ride, I think it was near Martinez Mine Ajax Mine. That particular wash is really difficult and I was unable to get through.

 

I looked at the info from an older pic a couple of years ago and was able to extract location info from it.

Well, in a surprise twist of fate...

The momma tracked her kiddos scent to my house that was just right up the road. She was twice as ferocious as her little kittens.

I was happy to return her kittens to her without blood shed. This is the circle of life...

A learning lesson for an animal lover GF.


You all may not agree with my decision, and thats okay. Armed with the facts that I know, I made the best decision I could for these kittens. When momma showed up, she latched onto my leg because I was outside of the truck standing by the bed. A surprise attack to be sure. I was scared, but unhurt due to these thick Carhartt jeans.

She jumped into the bed using my hitch step, bumper, and then tailgate. She scared the daylights out of GF. Who was inside the bed, and freaking out at this point.

Momma came between us, and the kittens. I had a gut feeling that there would be no easy way out of this situation.

I helped the GF out of the bed, and put her in the cab. I grabbed two towels, and coaxed momma/kittens into a corner of the bed.

Started the truck, and drove them to where the kittens came from.

When we arrived I checked on them. They were all three right where I had left them. Cuddled up, warm, and cozy under the towels, and heat from the bed.

Momma was angry when I reached in to pick her, amd the kittens up. The kittens were calm because momma was there.

Momma was lashing out at me, trying to bite through four layers of towel with no success. Reaching out to claw my wrist, and face.

I set them down, backed up hurriedly.

Momma, with kittens in tow started running off into the darkness. She stopped right as she was about to leave my foglight beams, looked back, and nodded. I felt in that moment that her, and I had a common understanding. Surreal.

We locked eyes for a few more seconds before her, and kittens disappeared into the gloom of night.

A valuable lesson learned for the girlfriend tonight.

Sometimes the best course of action is no corse of action at all.

This is the circle of life.

 

I got a new window phone mount yesterday from big gurrl and started recording dash vids again with torque pro. My other one melted apparently and was bouncing badly and had to go.

y’all seen this 333 fab alignment can elimantor tabs? Wonder how well they’d work with total chaos uca’s

 

Looks like those cams bolts only have 3 settings and then the fine tuning comes over at the UCAs. Do you trust yourself to get those adjustment right? Or will you be taking it to the shop which would happen anyway with regular bolts? Just thinking out loud.

 

Which I don’t understand how you would fine tune a non adjustable uca?
I know my spc can be adjusted at the BJ

 

How do you know you made/can make the proper adjustments?

 

I haven’t/won’t make the adjustments myself, but that is the Purpose of those UCA; they give you a wide range of adjustments. I would only take it to an alignment shop to play with those settings. And I recently found a good stealer tech that does side work and is accustomed to these UCAs

 

I like the idea of them being a stronger option. But I don’t have any adjustability in my uca’s with the total chaos uniballs.

I’ve got a 2005 that has 137k miles on it and needs brakes soon. Looking at either replacing pads with toyota OEM and keeping the rotors or doing power stop rotor with OEM pads. Ive heard the Z36 and Z23 pads dont last long and are noisy.
Anyone running these? Thoughts?

I also am looking for some all weather mats or floor liners. Any links? BF deals?

I’m running the Z36 pads and red rotors from them. No issues. Have maybe 10K on em though.

You are really taking a risk on that thing. Double your materials cost as thing really have doubled. A 2x4x8’ Pressure Treated was about $3.97 last year at this time. Now its around $8 if you can even find it! I wish you the best on this one.

What I failed to mention, property is 1/2 half acre with most sitting west of the road and there is 2/2 house that is presently rented on that side. The shit shack sits east of the road. It’s the cheapest house up & down that 3 plus mile stretch. If we succeed on renovating it, property value is gonna go through the roof.

Also PHM, we are in no rush. Plan is to continue renting the house out and wait about a year before tackling that problem

Learned something about them Turd gen tundras that I thought was interesting.

Hidden internal gas shock for soft open tailgate. I've used the tailgate on a buddy's newer tacoma. Its sweet. No torsion bar, or external gas shock.

Curious if this technology could be applied to our trucks to hide the tailgate support.
