Sub/amp help

Hello everyone.

Let me preface by saying I know next to nothing about audio installation and hate electrical. I’d much rather work on anything mechanical.

I just bought a 2019 tundra. Double cab. I’m pretty disappointed in the stereo, and it seems like I’m not the only one. It is NOT the JBL system. I’ve read through the forum and see many people recommend a 5 channel amp for the speakers plus sub.
my question is I have a Pioneer GM-D8601 mono amp and a pioneer 10 inch sub (TSSWX2502). Is there any problem with installing these. And if not can I add a multi channel for the speakers down the line without any problems.

Are you asking if you can install the Pioneer amp and sub with your current OEM system (read H/U)? If so, the answer is "yes", but you will probably need a sound processor for H/U audio out to your amp. That being said, your sub will seriously drowned out the remaining utter crap OEM speakers. My advice is to wait until you can afford an additional amp (4 channel), better door speakers, sound matting and do the whole damned thing at once. I tuffed out my shit JBL system for over a year and completely gutted the whole damned system.

Yikes, even sound processors don’t seem very cheap. I was hoping I could at least do something to improve it a little before doing the whole system. Money is going to be very tight for the next year as we put my wife through grad school.

 

It's all relative. I had to wait almost a year, purchasing one part at a time until I had my full system ready to install. But, it gave me plenty of time to do all of the ancillary tasks: sound matting the cab; soldering all new wiring harnesses; fabricating door speaker adapters; running power wire through the firewall; fabricating amp racks for under the back seat. In the end though, it was all worth it. I did not cut any corners. All that being said, if I can help you at all, just let me know.

 

Nice to know I m not alone. I ve gone through two years, and two vehicles, and still not done with my system.
