tailgate power lock and fob

..is there a way to leave the tailgate locked, and still unlock my doors with the fob? Kind of annoying that the tailgate locks and unlocks every time I use my fob to get in the truck.

 

You could pull off the access panel on the tail gate and disconnect the electric lock.
That would make it work with a key.
Most people are going the other way and buying them to install on their trucks if they don’t have them.

Well, that’s the only way that I know of to do what you’re asking to do. The tailgate lock is wired to the same circuit as the passenger doors. So when the remote unlocks (or locks) the passenger doors, the tailgate does too. It isn’t a separate circuit like a trunk.

your only other option would be a third party remote that has separate programming and a separate circuit for the tailgate. No idea of any of those systems are compatible with the ‘21... and then you’re back to carrying a separate fob and all the rest.

 

Yeah that makes sense. Guess I was wondering if that circuit was programmable. So I could 1 and 2 press the fob for the doors. And maybe another combo for tail gate. Thanks man.

 

When I looked into remote start for the Gen 2, some of them offered something like that. But no idea how/if any of those work with the startkey system in the 2020/2021 models.
