I gladly volunteer as tribute. I'm happy to cheer other people up.

Mom used to tall me that I was a lot like Robin Williams.

Well, I took my new pods apart, and gave them the ole Tundra2 waterproofing treatment just like I did my light bar.
    20201120_054125.jpg
Upon taking the first end cap off my suspicions were confirmed. Just like my light bar, they only had a small piece of rubber smooshed in there. Bolts were loose too. Probable cause for moisture in the lens...
    20201120_054332.jpg
I smooged some clear flex shot all along the sealing edges, and then the cap/rubber.
    20201120_060851.jpg
    20201120_060839.jpg
Smooged some between the outer lens, and the case. Wiped away excess with microfiber towl.

The wiring going into the cap was sealed much better.
    20201120_060932.jpg
The cap, and case were the same.

All four lights got the same treatment.
The light with red arrows was the prototype, trial and error. Arriws point to some goo being behind the lens. This is okay because this one is going under the truck.
    20201120_074606.jpg
Here is the second attempt. It went much better.
    20201120_074538.jpg
Tested all four lights after my water proofing endeavors. All still work. Now to let the goo cure.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Not sure if the lights deserve such pampering, it’s a crap shoot on longevity of the electronics, the lenses will get nasty looking sooner than the headlights and these lights are so cheap on eBay.

With that being said, you have problems bro. You just gotta get your hands in there and see what’s going on :monocle:

scratch & sniff and all that. Now you can use P21S carnauba wax on the lenses, headlights and even the windshield. About 3 layers every 2 or 3 months and the hazing issue will be many many years away, water & snow just rolls off and fills in the little nicks in the windshield which gives you a much cleaner view ahead

Curious if anyone has input on the 7.5" v 8" fronts (Tundra v second gen Tacoma) strength? Is the 7.5 that much weaker than the 8? I've been toying around with the idea of a front locker, but general consensus is locking the 7.5 in these trucks is sin. Reason I'm comparing those two / generations is because the trucks are similar in size, and many 2nd gen Tacoma owners have their front locked. I'm not looking to take my truck to KOH, but I feel like whiskey throttle and stupidity break CVs and grenade diffs more than functionality. I can't speak to the Tundra specifically..... yet

That's not my speed but I can appreciate it for being unique. I wish Toyota would release specifics on how many they made in each color. There are a few configurations I almost never see. I think it's the Timberland Mica thats my favorite. There is a guy that has an access cab near me that he uses for his mowing company and I think it's that color.

Do you care a spare schlong in there, too? Looks like you almost needed it. Maybe is why you need Astro Glide? :p

FWIW, sounds like you've seen about same as me, posted about that back here. Either everyone I know is super unlucky or it's just not widespread enough for everyone to get a taste. Worst hit amongst them were hit early on and split between two of the boroughs of NYC (BK & Queens), places where they were needing refrigerator trucks to hold all the bodies. Both of my boss' kids got it (mild), somehow he and his wife didn't (they're in central Europe).

It'll be interesting to see what happens during the current reported spike and how much it changes how many people know someone that's had a serious issue or death over it. I have no doubt people think I'm lying and all that, but I don't want them to be able to experience it either, it sucks.

I kinda want everything to shut down again. I have half a dozen things I want to do to the truck and would love to have time to do it. I suspect layoffs coming soon also, so maybe that'll bring a "vacation" with it.

    I don’t disbelieve you.

So after my comment yesterday, two of my nurse frens reported the emergency rooms here are starting to get overrun. Back in March/April/May nothing and then a small load in June and then small until now. This thing has to run its course which sucks. Sick/compromised/elderly take big precaution. Everyone else gotta work. We can’t live in fear.

No way most small businesses (largest employer in US) can handle this second shut down. We are going to have more things to worry about than time to fiddle on trucks once nobody has a job and money. The tipping point is neigh on more than one front if you are an aware person.

I think the biggest risk is the one you mentioned in your first paragraph. We have an already-exhausted healthcare staff who hasn't had a break in almost a year and they don't have to work, they can easily throw their arms up in the air because they're sick of people ignoring it, then we're all screwed. If they strike, deaths will skyrocket.

Now places like Wisconsin, the Dakotas are getting hammered and some of the same healthcare workers that flew to the 1st hotspots see their facilities get overrun exactly the sameand are asking themselves, "what the f&*# is wrong with people, are you seriously telling me we're this thick-headed?!"

I think we sorta got lucky during the 1st big outbreak that hammered NYC, it hadn't spread elsewhere yet, so doctors and nurses were flying in from all over the country to help. Now it's spread to the midwest where resources are lesser, and it's still impacting the huge cities, there's not going to be anyone to bail them out.

I genuinely hope I'm wrong, I hope someone can point back to this post 6 months from now and we made it OK, vaccine is already here, and we're good. But as someone whose friends and family live in the 1st-hit places, I've seen what it does, and I think the places it's spreading to now aren't equipped to handle it.

Also don't think our healthcare workers are prepared to continue risking their lives to save those who opted to buy into propaganda. But my hopes are high that we find it wasn't actually propaganda at a later time, and the anti-maskers and deniers were correct for being non-compliant.

I’m unsure of the propaganda which you speak. People are getting this no matter if you believe propaganda or not. This thing was man made and released on us with purpose and timing. Lets not forget this.

Keep washing your hands, wear a mask (and wash when you put it on before going into store which nobody does). If you don’t want to wear a mask then don’t come up in my face like I never did before this mess. I ain’t got time for you bad breath.

Lil bit of pole light work. You can see the shadow of Bmf there on the ground. And it was about 30' up so close to 3rd floor.

I'm kind of ashamed to originally be from the Plains right now. The Dakotas and similar states in the upper plains CHOSE this upon themselves by blind ignorance. I grew up in Sturgis, South Dakota / my wife born and raised there - she is currently pregnant and we will not be going back there anytime soon to see family needless to say.

Sturgis went full force with the 80th motorcycle rally this year and the Black Hills continues to host massive gatherings due to their dependency on tourism revenue (Deadwood is also a hot spot which recently just had multiple thousands of people in town for "Deadweird" which is their huge Halloween party). A huge part of my family is also from North Dakota (where I was born) - they kept raging in the bars and continued life as normal through this entire pandemic / they also frequent Deadweird every year... As do my buddies from Eastern Montana, over in Wiscy, and so on.... It's no surprise they're getting hit hard with how they've viewed the entire pandemic. Put bluntly, they just don't give a fuck up there about it.

:notsure: I didn't feel like spending insane amounts of money on this. I have roughly $40 in this because I already had the flex shot. I couldn't really find many differences between the expensive lights such as Caliraised, or these. Went cheaper.

My front light bar has been going strong for a year now.

Regarding the bold words in your quote...
If I had a nickel for every time I'd heard that... I could buy two turd gens.
