My 2019 doesn't even have BSM, parking sensors, front camera or 360 view.

Is it still safe to drive?

Maybe Toyota was thinking people should use their eyes, ears, experience and common sense when driving, instead of relying on gadgets and doohickies that will open them up for lawsuits when people run over someone and their alarm didn't chime off to warn them.

Had the BSM in my 1794 and I thought it would beep like crazy if you put your turn signal on and there was somebody in your blind spot. I could be wrong though, it's been a while... I prefer to turn my head and look a few times to be sure. I also may have been "urbanized" but I call USAA if I get a flat. I'm already paying for it and this way I don't scar up my lady hands.

Scissor jacks are fucking garbage. Sketchy shit. All my trucks except the Ford came with bottle jacks. I threw that scissor jack in the trash where it belongs and put a proper bottle jack in.

I know how to drive, so I don't need BSM, ABS, ACC and NORAD to check my blind spot, apply the breaks or keep me in my lane. My truck is a 05 though, so it was built prior to the rise of incompetent people buying trucks.

I think I just figured out what those little lights are for on this thread. Thanks. I just always used my eyes. As for the Jack hell i don’t even know where it is so no complaints there.

Mine came with a bottle jack.

@Swfltoyomafia on my Crewmax, it's under the rear passenger seat and then you have to finnagle it out from behind the seat back.

The Ford safety commercials kill me. A lady driving her car and not paying attention, almost runs a kid over and kills them. Then she pays attention when the car lights up and sounds.

How about she should be paying attention to the road and not her kid who dropped their sippy cup.

I'm afraid for our next generation of drivers and the rest of this generation who is on the road with them.

What sort of farm truck doesn’t have a couple of wood blocks you can stack underneath the jack?

Even Toyota has some stupid commercials, making it seem we don't have to pay attention to things around us if we have TSS.

The bigger question for this guy is...why is he swerving out of his lane in the first place?

Twice in 30 seconds, he shouldn't even be driving.

Did he not see the giant truck stopped on the road or the goat in time to slow down ahead of time?

Honestly, I work long shifts - and there have been times where I don't remember the entire drive home. I'll remember leaving work, then all of a sudden I'm pulling into my driveway. I've had a few times where the road braille has startled me back into existence. So I can understand.

Yup. I have a plastic "milk crate" full of pressure treated dimensioned lumber for me to JACK OFF of.

Oh. And on the 2nd day of Tundra ownership I bought a 6 ton hydraulic bottle jack and put it in the milk crate.

If I find myself in a place & time where I need to pull a wheel I want nothing but ease and comfort to JACK UP and JACK OFF.

I would be remiss if I didn't warn you >>> YMMV.

    In progress…
Toyota was probably thinking something along the lines of “Let’s design and build a reliable truck with features and options that work for the largest percentage of our customer base.”). They know they can’t please everyone so they don’t even try. Unlike the Big 3 who offer a gazillion different configurations and optional packages with 5 or more power train choices. No wonder their reliability is what it is.

I have to carry around my own lighter now. I know the technology is there because there’s a 12V socket. Toyota really dropped the ball on this one.

As a former tractor trailer driver in the mid eighties, there was no such thing as BSM. You looked in the mirror after you've been looking in your mirrors every few seconds or so. Never hit a car. Just my .02 worth. It's really up to the driver to make sure no other car is in his/her lane.
