What was Toyota thinking?!?!

    2 major shortcomings of Toyota.
1 no audible alert when signaling into the lane that BSM shows has a vehicle present
2 undersized and inadequate style jack

    BSM
So Toyota offers this audible beep with their RCTA so why in hell didnt they incorporate this with the BSM!? Heres the scenario. its daytime and your in busy traffic. Your BSM is on because there is a vehicle in your lane. You signal to go into that lane and BSM alerts you with only flashing signal. NO AUDIO. However, the audible beep does alert the driver with RCTA when there is danger. So, the technology is there but is not employed in the case of BSM. WELL ISNT THAT JUST A BUNCH OF %#!!%!
As far as Im concerned, this is useless because at daytime, this BSM led flash is hardly noticeable. At night its very noticeable but so are the headlights of the vehicle that is in your lane. What was Toyota thinking?!? There must be a way for Toyota to turn that audible beep on through a firmware update, Yes? A huge oversight on their part IMO
NEXT TOPIC. THE DISMAL AND RINKY DINKY JACK
I had an 07 Tundra CM that got flat tire. I had the opportunity to put truck in a good, safe and flat terrain area to do the change. Set up the jack at specified jack location as indicated by owners manual and up it went. First thought as i pulled jack out “are you kidding me! This dinky thing is suppose to hold a 6,000-7,000 truck!? No jack stands either! Ok then. That wouldve cost them an extra $5 to include. I loosened lugs on tire with truck on ground then went up with jack. I maxed out the lift and barely got tire off ground. At this point, because of the slight shift in truck with one wheel up, I noticed a shift in something. I assessed the jack and damn! It was at an angle. The jack was not straight at its highest setting. To get to the point here, upon removing the tire the jack shifted too far and collapsed. Down came my tundra onto the rotor. Luckily i had placed the tire under it as a backup but that only absorbed 20% of the drop. It was a mess!
I reported this to Toyota who did NOTHING!! Then I wrote to NHTSA and they appeared hungry to get all details. Then they too went silent after a week. My newer 2018 jack I see is still the same POS as on my 07. And worse yet, getting this jack out of its location takes some physics! I test drove a titan that i was seriously considering since my incident left a really bad taste in my mouth. This truck had a scissor style jack, included 2 fold out jack-stands and was super easy to access. In many other ways Nissan blew Toyota out of the water with these kinds of thoughtful inclusions. But I still couldnt make the move to Nissan as I loved the Tundra’s engine.
I now have a scissor jack in addition to toyotas puny jack in my truck along with a set of harbor freight jackstands.
The biggest slap in the face came when i got Toyota on phone and the rep I spoke with told me they would offer nothing (not even to replace the jack that had bent 90 degrees at the base by stating:
“YOUR TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.” This is a safety issue lady! Not a frigging warranty issue!!!
    PLEASE BE CAREFUL FOLKS!!

You forgot to mention 3) the missing transmission cooler...:poking:

In all seriousness I've been looking into a mod for the BSM. There is a mod to add indicator lights inside the vehicle but I've not seen an audio alert mod.

I've not used the jack yet but that is disappointing to hear. I may look at an aftermarket jack if that is the case.

My BSM alert would be constantly going off.

Every truck comes with that style of bottle jack. I’ve had zero issues with them when changing flats.

I hear ya on the BSM.
I also have a complaint on the Parking Sensor location on the 2020+ they use the same switch but you can not see the light while driving. Prior to 2020 it was by the trailer brake controller.

    I wouldn’t trust $5 jack stands.

BSM makes sense if it beeps when you use the blinker.

Good luck in your endeavors. Your caps lock key keeps getting stuck.

I think he only wants the audible alert to come on if you active your turn signal towards the direction the BSM identifies another vehicle. Though, I'm pretty sure most people don't know how to use their turn signal either way.

Not the case! It would go off ONLY IF YOU “SIGNALED” TO ENTER THE LANE YOU HAD A VEHICLE IN. Most japanese and korean vehicles (honda, mazda, hyundai) offer the Audible beep and they work very well

DRIVE IN TRAFFIC SOMETIMES! I use my signal to let others know I plan to move over...it is common in traffic.

Isn't the BSM just a nanny to hold the drivers hand?

I like how everything can be turned off on the tundra. I rented a suburban once and if it thought you were drifting lanes, it would take over control and move you back in to the lane and the seat would shake. It was annoying cause it kept over reacting.

I meant that I’ve driven. I mis-typed. The ford, ram, and Toyota trucks I’ve driven all had bottle jacks. I had zero issues using them

That is a very good point. Once you get acclimated to a warning system then go to one without, ...trouble.

I mean you could just use your mirrors and not be a big baby about it. Vary your speed slightly as you do to clear out the blind spot, or move your head, and make it happen.

You don't need a nanny alarm to make you drive better.

You think that’s bad, you’re not going to believe this:

My 89 Silverado didn’t even have the flashing signal if someone was next to you. I actually had to turn my head. I literally died 87 times when driving that truck.
On top of that, there was no audible alarm if I got too close to something. I demolished at least 17 elementary schools and 4 churches. Killed 48 kids at a crosswalk.

Don’t even get me started on how cold my ass was because Chevy cheaped out and didn’t include seat warmers. It didn’t even have f@#&& cup holders and there was nowhere to plug my iPhone in. No Bluetooth either. That damned truck expected me to do everything for it.

You literally died every time you drove that death trap. No flashing signal? That's gross negligence on Chevy. No wonder you killed 48 kids at a crosswalk.

I am not sure about the f-150 but the 2016 250 we have on the farm uses a bottle jack, and it sucks cranking it up 12" to the frame...
