Just got a 2021 Colorado , my work vehicle, 40k + window sticker. It has 29 miles on it, needs an alignment, fog lights don't work and it's missing screws on the interior plastic, so it rattles like hell.

Or, if he's really pissed, he'll tear out your larynx and cry a little afterwards because it wasn't really his fault. There's just a lot of pent-up anger in that dancers body. Obviously still pissed that somebody put Baby in the corner.

I love Roadhouse though. That's a movie just chocked full of amazing & timeless hairstyles. A "Lost Boys" without the fangs.

And hopefully you wouldn't have it constantly in the shop like most of the F150 owners I know.

Gonna be hilarious when Silverado and f150 copy Tundra and ditch the aux trans cooler.

2 years into “no aux cooler” and virtually zero transmission issues attributed to the change.

(Edit: in fact I'm having a really hard time finding any transmission issues on the no-aux-cooler trucks (and in general on Tundra going back to beginning of the platform. )

You can find multiple transmission issues on Silverado, F150 forums. These are trucks equipped with aux coolers and ironically there are a non trivial number of transmission complaints stemming from high temps.

talk about engineering not making sense...

dodge trucks don’t seem to have a transmission temp complaint. Dodges are though having issues or complaints I should say about high engine oil and coolant temps. Even still guys are trying to get transmission temps to 160 because even 190 is too high. Lol.

so if you want ice cold transmission temps I’d go with a dodge.

or keep your 2017 CM and then publish your “transmission design for dummies” series and make a huge profit.

Not across the board... they still have a gigantic absurdly large oil to water unit on ecoboost units

It’s kind of impressive though. I data logged my friends 2017 rebel towing a 40 ft tt in 110f ambients , up a slight incline, at 70 mph and the sucker never got above 195. Amazing.

it did however trigger oil temp ...got a warning light at 265. Then later at low speeds cruising trails unloaded in big bend park the engine coolant hit 245 and tripped a warning.

I have a Yukon XL that does that same P0307 “Misfire in Cyl 7” thing. Driving home in limp mode is so fun.

I think I finally figured it out for good though. Fingers crossed. It’s from the AFM letting oil in to foul up the cylinders that it shuts down on the highway. A while back, I removed all the spark plugs, shot each cylinder full of AC Delco Upper Engine Degreaser, took my kids to their soccer games, and installed new plugs when we got back two hours later. It belched thick white smoke for 30 min as it burned up all that gunk I loosened up, but it has run like a top ever since.

I also put a Range AFM Disabler in it immediately. Went from consuming almost 3qt every 3k miles to just 1/4 qt. in the last 3k miles.

Yes, the AFM feature gets you 1 more mpg on the highway, but you more than make up for it with all the extra oil it makes the engine drink and the much shorter spark plug life.

If people want to know real transmission issues hop into one of Chevys new trucks with their famed active fuel management or whatever it’s called now and see if you like how that transmission works. But hey at least the tranny is cool as it’s slamming in and out of gears with no rhyme or reason

ecoboost does the same when there is turbo malfunction. wastegate control or hard mechanical failure.

load variations combined with 10 ratios will be hard to get away from strange drivability issues.

It’s awful. The worst is when you take it to the dealership to complain and their response is they all do that and it’s normal

I also had a tune to disable the AFM and still had issues. It's a design issue with the motor. The oil pump pressure release is located under #7 piston and blows oil on the underside of the piston which gets past the oil control rings. I had the update where they put a deflector on but still had issues. Also the PCV dumps the blow by into the intake at #7 intake runner. I had to install a catch can. The problem can get so bad that the carbon cakes the rings up and the motor will actually cold seize. No way I was going to pay for a motor on that pile and unloaded it before it was off warranty.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I am not so sure about that advice. It sounds a lot like moral relativism whose forgone conclusion towards life is Nihilism or in your case hedonism.

Ahhh. When did this update occur?

I tried to get my wife into a 4Runner, but she loves her giant Yukon XL. It’s paid off so at least we’re only putting fuel and parts into it.

I read one guy’s post on the GM trucks forum...he keeps an extra spark plug, wire, and toolkit in his wife’s suburban just for when cylinder 7 misfires and puts the truck into limp mode. He drives out to wherever it strands her and swaps the new spark plug in.

As one of our members who's on a temporary break right now likes to point out, not a single person running a GM motor in the real world hasn't disabled AFM.

You need to dump the shitty 8 speed and get in a butter smooth 10 speed, at least according to the GM homers.

I think the updates started soon after the AFM introduction on the 5.3l. If your Yukon is still under warranty call the dealer to make sure they have done all the updates before your warranty is up. Mine stated having issues around 40,000 miles and motor failures have happened just after the warranty is up.

When you added the AC Delco stuff to loosen the carbon that would certainly helped with removing the carbon but it probably didnt remove all of it. Hopefully the updates have been done because if the carbon keeps building the enevitably will happen. If they tell you that the updates have been done then why did your #7 cylinder carbon up? It couldn't have been cause by just the AFM because it would have happened on the other deactivated cylinders.

It’s way out of warranty. It’s a 2012 with 136k miles. The plugs were changed at 119k, and then it threw the P0307 code at 131k I believe. That plug fouled up in 12k miles.

If it does it again in another 7k miles, then we’ll know.

The nice thing is, it only consumed 1/4 qt in the last 3k miles since I put the AFM disabler on it. It was drinking almost 3 qts every 3k before then.
