I was just trying to give a reference for how it rides/looks with no OLL and a cap on..

So many contradictions in their opening statement. But they seem pretty experienced offroad, so that paint will definitely help in those situations.

 

pop the cap off (cold) fill to top, ideally use a coolant funnel, leave cap off, start truck with heat on full blast and rev it, idle it.. etc till you have good heat at idle.. sounds like you have an air pocket. Dont waste your time with the 170 degree t-stat unless you like the truck running cooler in the winter.. if you were boosted or something then youd run that. the 4.7 is pretty good with the stock cooling keeping the truck right at 180

Im not into tube bumpers either, but One of the ones I posted, has smaller panels on the left & right and kinda fills it out. Definitely interesting, but Idk getting a bumper for my needs is kinda a waste.

I’ll never forget reading a thread from about 8-10 years ago about aftermarket bumpers. Guy called them ‘Damage Enhancers’. Awesome read. With the new generation of snowflakes and censorships, these threads are becoming rare.

Check out that guys comments above trying to blame the builder for his wrecked vehicle. Buyer Beware is how I was always taught.

 

that is common with the brush guards like what I have currently installed. a good plate steel bumper should be more stiff and tough for lighter impacts though.

 

I feel so bad for turd gens. My trannt temp is sitting at 113 degrees while hauling a 4wheeler at 70mph lololol. Theirs would be 200

 

Yeah. Mine was sitting at 150° towing a double axle 6x6x12 a few months back when it was still warm ambient temps.

Those recent Turd Gen Cooler threads are the funniest yet! Sounds like some of them are entering therapy over their lack of ambient air cooler.

Heavy snowfall (For ky.) I'm at work with little weight in the rear because it was a freak snowstorm. Snowed about 3-4 inches. Light, powdery snow.

I'm about 5 miles from the apartment. Coming up to an embarked ditch on the right with a slope about 12 feet high. Roads had been traveled a lot by then so it was mainly ice...

Just as I'm almost behind the bank on my right, a gust of wind caught the ass end of the truck, spun it into the oncoming lane, I turned left into the slide to no avail....

I'm now sliding down the road cocked halfway sideways, steering wheel locked to the left, and I'm watching this bank slide by in front of me. The rear wheels caught traction, but the fronts didn't. It was enough to change my momentum and send me into the bank.

I hit it, and it spun the truck the rest of the way around, shifted the deer guard to the right on impact, and caused a small leak in my radiator. I'm now facing the direction I was coming from.

One rear wheel is in the muddy ditch, other rear wheel isn't grabbing anything on the road...

Called a tow truck, got pulled out, and carried on. Creeped home real slow. About 15 mph... took me two hours total...

I was going fast enough to seriously damge the front end, and possibly deploy the airbags. That would have been all she wrote for me at that point in time.

I'll see if I can dig up old photos of it. I doubt I have any anymore.

That was terribly made. I don't see any supports going forward, only the side bars bolted to the tow hook locations. Whoever made that should never make a bumper again. (Was not the guy selling bumpers)

I know it's only been a week, but I'm still searching for a vendor with a possible Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal on gear packages. Revolution currently has an ebay deal on 4.88s w/ masters for $776 (w/o solid spacer). Shopping around everywhere else, their gear packages are about $950 for Rev and Nitros. Even with a 20% discount that puts me pretty much back to where I'd be if I just pull the trigger now.

That said, I know Just Differentials was mentioned the last time I asked. Has anyone else made a similar purchase in the past / been aware of gear sales turning up this time of year? If not I'm probably just going to commit to the ebay asking price. I ran Revolution's in my Tacoma and beat the shit out of that thing, and they held up just fine.

 

@alee891 justdiffs usually does 15% off on black Friday for Nitro. This being 2020 I don't know if they will this year. They had a member here before but I haven't seen him in a while. I would give them a call, they're friendly Toyota loving people.
