I installed the warmcarnow plug and play kit a while back. It doesn’t start the head unit until I’m in and turn the key. Doesn’t bother me now (and I never really thought about it) as the stock unit doesn’t take long but I’m going to install an aftermarket unit soon and it has a longer boot time.

Can it be wired to start the head unit? Does it need to be reflashed?

I would contact who ever you bought it from and ask them.

I have the same setup and mine does the same thing. I just figured the radio must triggered by a different circuit that the remote start doesn't control.

Not sure if it can be changed.

    I have a Compustar remote start/alarm.
Aftermarket HU powers up when the engine starts.

    That is odd yours doesn't..
I wouldn't have the patience to sit there and wait for it to power up.
And you're correct @Corranhorn4406 an aftermarket HU will take longer to boot up..

I contacted him and he said no It won’t start the headunit and can’t be wired or flashed to do so.
Not sure why when everything else comes on.

Mine doesnt come on. Dont want it to either. With my upgraded system I don't want the truck to be bumping out in a parking lot with nobody in it.

I think it’s the way some are designed to not trigger any anti-theft stuff. It’s on a different circuit to only the ignition. I also have a compustar and my radio does come on, so if you want that there are other options. But it’ll suck to have to change yours out just for that.

I'm not gonna change the remote start kit. Just wanted to check if anyone knew of a work around. I'll just have to get over the boot time. NBD

You could run the 12v ACC lead for the radio to a circuit that does come on with the remote start. If you're wiring up a new headunit it shouldn't be too difficult actually.
