I'll admit honestly I'm surprised the Tundra was within 0.3 mpg in that kind of operation. Given how poor the mileage is driving unloaded. I was expecting something like 1.0 mpg or the dreaded 0.9--officially gallons per mile territory.

I would like it if they got a little more in depth with stuff...was tow haul mode on, did they use S4, what gears was the chevy in etc. If the lower power, highway geared chevy was in 4th of 8 gears it would help explain the comparable mileage. Also, I would like to see a test where they use S4 on the tundra vs D and see how much that effects the tranny temps with the torque converter staying locked vs changing gears under heavy load.
