    Hey everyone,

I’ve been torn on what I’m doing with my new truck. I really want another topper but man are they $$$. Even used ones in my area are way too high. I’ve always had my eye on the Softopper. Might give it a try. Thoughts on a Tan softopper on this truck? I’ve posted what a black one would look like on this truck. I’ve never seen anyone run a tan one. Might not be bad considering I have tan leather interior and tons of chrome. Thoughts? And if you have pics that are relevant please help!

I don’t like the look at all, personally. Save the money and wait until you can get the topper you want.

I respect that answer a lot. If money was no object I would simply order a color matched one and be done with it. That being said.. there have been a few times I’ve cursed the ground I stood on because of my old topper when being restricted with loading it with stuff or having to crawl in it to get to the cargo at the cab. Both of which are alleviated by a Softopper when it’s folded up. Each have there pros and cons for sure.

just for shiggles, I photoshopped one onto the back of my truck..

There is a black one on a yellow f350 in my area and I always think to myself how ugly and cheap it looks on the $$ truck. That said, if it works the best then who cares what anyone else thinks. Looking at your 2 pics the tan seems to actually look better than the black.

Will it be broken down most of the time or in use?

I would say it will be up 70% of the time and down 30%

It’s your truck so if you need/want one go for it. You asked for opinions: I don’t think it looks good. Ever consider a soft roll-up tonneau cover? Lots of good options for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah I currently have a LoMax cover for it. I prefer the look of the a tonneau cover over a cap but I have 6 dogs and haul them around town often.. I need the functionality of having a cap or it's equivalent.

Fair enough. Go for the soft topper then. Post a pic when you get it on. Good luck.

I think the tan soft-topper would look great on your truck

Prefer the look of tan over the black on that color truck.

    6 dogs... whew!

I think the tan works pretty good with the brown truck. I think if I was going to get a topper, I'd probably go soft as well, and I don't think they look crappy. But hey, I've been known to not go with popular opinion too... :der:

The soft topper on your truck would not look good at all in my opinion. You already spent a lot buying the truck in the first place, just save up and get the color matched hard topper you want.

Thought I would update this thread. Thank you everyone for all of your responses. I had planned on going with the softopper but actually scored this topper last night for super cheap! I’ll post an updated picture of it once it’s color matched in a few weeks. But I love it so far! Already broke it in this morning with a sunrise dog park run

    Glad you found a topper

Now you need to de-chrome, color match and PRO headlights :boink:

Nice! I think you will be much happier with that choice. Post up when it’s color matched.

Ha.. as nice as that sounds.. I've spent too much money doing cosmetic things in the past to trucks while carrying a note.. This truck will be a "don't fix it til its broken or paid off" lol. However, color matching the cap.. while "cosmetic" is an exception to the policy ;)

Well, I finally got the cap painted! Turned out pretty good. Cost my $700. Paint was the same paint code but it came out just a tad darker for whatever reason. All in all though I’m extremely happy I waited for the topper and waited for the funds to paint it. All in all I’m only in it for $1100 dollars and it’s an ARE MX series with all the nice options on it.

That is a nice looking cap,and cheap by the sounds. Too bad on the color match though. But then again, the cargo won't mind.
