Any first gen Stepside pics out there?

@Rex Kramer you should gently sand and paint that piece of trim. I did it to mine and it made the truck look a lot newer.

 

It's on my list of things to do to my '02.

I didn't want to admit it after spending the $$ on the Meguiar's black magic product twice, thanks to my senile ass ordering a bottle in two different places, but ... while that Meguiar's product sucked wind, this Griot's product worked as advertised for me. It didn't get the plastic black-black[**], but it did take it from as white as yours in spots to a deep, rich charcoal grey without the use of abrasives and paint.

I was naturally skeptical when Meguiar's product didn't work worth a damn, their stuff usually works great, they make no-brainer products. The richness and saturation of their black magic lasted maybe a week or two and then turned from medium gray to light gray (not quite as ashy as yours). I applied the Griot's to the passenger 1/4 of my bumper cover after having already used the Meguiar's product on the whole thing last year, then to the entire rear passenger mudflap a month ago, drove around in rain and dust. You can literally see my bumper cover is two-tone, still dark ad charcoal on the Griot's side, also notice it's waterproof on the Griot's side. Mudflap is still charcoal also. No complaints here.

May be worth checking out. [**] I don't think these parts were originally black, but maybe I'm wrong. I had to order a replacement bed stake cover cap from Toyota. If I hold that cap next to the bumper cover, the color difference is practically imperceptible.

I tried the headlight clear coat spray Meguiar's sells... it SUCKS!

 

Yeah, I was wondering what the true color of stake cap & side trim was. I will check out the Griots for sure.

Yeah boyz. Forget the salves and oils. Just bed line spray your trim with Rustoleum.

 

The black trim & fender flares look good! were the fender flares originally the factory silver?

Stake Caps? You mean the bed rail caps? Same color painted Rustoleum Liner. No pics.

 

Your fender flares were chrome? I think he's asking if your black flares were originally color matched to your truck(silver metallica)

Thoes are 33s on a 2.5” lift… but will be upgrading soon to some 37s on a 4.5 suspension and a 3 inch body lift

 

Holy crap! Enjoy getting 8mpg with all that meat to spin.

At least one of our guys here with 35s gave up recently and rolled back an inch or two. Myriad of reasons, basically got sick of it.

I suspect you'll need to chop the firewall to stuff 37s, even with 3" lift.

 

That’s the point lol!! I’m stacking the body lift and the suspension lift though to give me about 8 inches of lift

 

I love step sides but Toyota really screwed the pooch with those tail lights and rear fenders.

The back end just reminds me of an elephant that's missing its trunk.

Or like some apprentice in the Toyota design department was hilariously enamoured with the Chrysler PT Cruiser but they only allowed him to design the bed. The rest of the truck was already done.

Or maybe the designer had a fever dream after watching My 600LB Life and his thoughts were cursed by the 900lb sisters who had so much fat their foreheads were chubby. And his only way to get rid of the mental torture was to unleash his unholy vision upon the world in the form of a tailgate.

 

Never really was a fan of the speedway blue on the tacoma but that Tundra is HAWT

 

Hwat did'ju say... ah man the mental images...

 

I never liked it before but it has grown on me, definitely don't see many of them.

 

That would make a great candidate to be lowered being it's 2wd
